How many miles on your first generation CX-5?

Hello All,

I have a 2014 CX-5 Touring that I purchased new in 2013. It has 179,000 miles on it. I've replaced the ATF and filter around 80,000 miles. Other than oil changes, air/cabin filters, a few switches, brakes, and rear shock upper mounts, we've not needed to replace anything significant. I'd say we have less than $1,000 into this vehicle other than oil changes. The interior looks great. Other than some minor rust underneath, the exterior looks great as well.

Just curious what kind of mileage you all have racked up so far. I've read a few posts about changing (or not changing) the ATF, but has anyone had the transmission fail yet, whether you changed the fluid or not?

Stay Safe!

I have a 2016 Touring purchased new in April 2015. Currently 48,xxx on the odo. Don't drive it as much as our 2019 CX-5 Reserve.
Nothing except tires, battery, rear brakes and oil changes/tire rotations.

Going to have the trans fluid changed when I take it in for it's yearly in May.
Dealer did the rear diff service a couple of years ago by mistake. My gain.
Also had the coolant changed a few years ago since Mazda changed to the newer coolant with more corrosion protection.

Most dependable affordable vehicle I've ever owned.

Unfortunately, most of the content on those threads is people talking about what maintenance they've done, and most don't include their mileage.

Respectfully, although some of it is interesting, I'm really just looking form mileage.

Well, that was the intention of the thread, and the OP does update it with high-mileage examples.

But it stands to reason you would see talk of maintenance as the two go hand-in-hand.

Feel free to review my post. I outline in detail what services have been done on my Mazda 6, which is very similar.

I have a 2014 Touring AWD (no tech or moonroof packages) bought in April 2013 (build date of 01/2013) - currently 149,250 miles.

I started drain / fills on the ATF around 71k miles (did a series of 3 drain and fills each a week apart to get as much new fluid in as possible). Did it again with a single drain / fill at 120k, and plan to pay a shop to drop the transmission pan and replace the filter (and whatever fluid they drain) at 150k. So far, no complaints or issues with transmission.

Other major services needed was replacing the front struts, mounts, sway bar end links, and lower control arms. Used OE parts and reused the springs. Original drive belt tensioner failed and needed replacing. Also had to replace the lock actuators in all the doors as the original became weak. Original blower motor went out. Early models also had an issue with the shift actuator / switch and needed replacing.

Aside from the above, everything else has been regular maintenance: oil / oil filter, cabinet / engine filters, spark plugs at 75k and coming up again at 150k, coolant at 120k, brakes, rear differential and transfer case fluid changes, and on my 3rd battery since buying new in 2013.
