How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

Newbie here!

I have been lurking having just ordered a Mazda CX-5 2.2d 150 FWD Sport Nav. With led, scuff plates, under garnish front and rear. Looking at delivery 1st May. It is a company car purchase and really looking forward to it. Current car is an Audi A3 Sportback which is great, very economical and looks the part. However I needed more space, better driving position while keeping economy and co2 at a sensible level!

Keep up the good advice and shall make sure I read this thread often to keep up to date with any issues and also looking at some pictures of your cars makes me wish it was May already!

Look forward to sharing some notes and pictures ASAP!

Another Newbie here.

Got my CX5 Tuesday 15th just in time for the snow and have done just over 1k miles (company car) First Japanese car I have had never mind a Mazda, Luckily my wife broke her leg last week so I am having to do all the driving at the moment lol. Living in Sunderland there are a lot of Nissan Qashqai's so its nice to drive something different.

The US and Canada as far as I can research are fitted with a space saving tyre with a size 155 90 R18 where as the Australian market have 185 80 R17 which is basically a real tyre. I have the Australian size which I ordered for myself here in th UK. Although it is classed as a space saving temporary spare its size should be adequate to be used on the front in emergencies if driven sensibly at lower speeds. (IMO)

Done a little research the 185/80R17 will fit 5J to 6.5J so I am looking for a 17 Mazda alloy on Ebay
 
How is everyone's mpg here in the UK.
I have the diesel awd manual del.
Getting around 42mpg back and fore to work on a short journey of around 5 miles.
Averaging around 50mpg on motorway driving at 70mph.
Clocked 3500k in the 4 months so far.
I did notice in the sub zero temp last week a fall of around 5mpg but back up to the normal average now.
 
Still only seen 2 cx5 in south wales valleys as well.

I've only done about 400 miles so far, but am getting a very poor 34mpg.... Hope it improves after a few tank fills.
 
Mine has done 4600 miles now and I have a good mix of town and motorway driving - the classic 'combined cycle' and I am getting 43 mpg. I am taking it in on Friday for a number of things and asked them to check it out - I will let you know what they say.
 
I think we have every right to expect more - the figures quote 61mpg combined! I know they loosen up but this is still too low.

Well here are my first impressions of my AWD auto Sport nav.

Drive is great. The handling is very car like and much better than my old Freelander 2. Performance is very good - powerful and very smooth auto gearbox. Space is excellent loads of room for all the family. High tech gadgetry is brilliant. Loving the RVM and istop, which seems to work great. The auto wipers are not perfect, but the auto dipping lights are. Xenon lamps are great and the turning beams are really cool.

Owners manual is unbelievably long winded and is the thickness of a phone book. seems to written by someone determined to make every function as complicated as possible to explain, so I am just consulting it when I get stuck.

Major omission is lack of memory on electric seat. Surely that is a no brainer, as what is the point of electric adjustment without a memory. Seems stupid to me and I will curse its omission every time I get in after the wife has reset it to her requirements.

Really the only disappointment so far is the fuel consumption which is currently indicating a woeful 33.5 mpg. I hope this will improve as the engine beds in and I get some more miles on the clock, but it will need to improve dramatically to approach the stated figures from Mazda - only time will tell.

BTW if anyone is interested, I have the dog guard and cargo divider from Travall, which both fit perfectly and install in minutes without any drilling or mods at all. highly recommended if you have a doggy.
 
i have done 550m and got 37mpg so far , most of that in cold weather tho.
Went to Derby on friday - used the lane departure warning on the Motorways - it really works well. Coming back on the M1 at night heavy snow fell, many cars ended up spinning but cx5 was very solid. It gets quite a few onlookers in the car park at work!
 
I've got the petrol version, (am I the only one?) done 2k and getting around 38mpg which is mainly an 8 mile each way commute in town driving and the occasional trip to Brighton, this seems amazingly good compared to you diesel guys! so far the car has not missed a beat and I'm very pleased with my purchase, also the performance has improved considerably with the mileage.
 
First 1000 miles In My Sport Auto AWD - Here's what I Think of my CX5 so far

Things I Like (shady)
Handling,
Responsive Engine and Gearbox (especially the downshifts that raise revs slightly unlike most slushboxes I have had previously)
Forward visibility
Large Mirrors
I Stop
Keyless Entry
Proper handbrake lever
Colour ( subjective I know) but Aluminium silver looks great on both Dull and sunny days

Things I Don't Like (rant)
Threequarter Rear Visibility
The Clock position is very poor should be on the instrument binnacle
Reflection of the Istop/ TCS/ TPM switches inthe Drivers door mirror at night
Carpet mats that show every last bit of muck
Small fuel tank
Lack of engine temp gauge
Radio/Nav Panel should be blank by default until switched on.
Disappointing MPG returns - I drive like I'm treading on eggshells with little stop start motoring ( 10 mins on the Istop cumulative) and am struggling to better 40mpg
( was significantly worse during the recent cold spell). I was previously driving a Manual V6 Diesel Signum that could better 45 mpg average without too much effort.
Hope the engine has the potential to better this as it loosens up!

Small Design improve improvements for Mazda to consider
A metallic trim to the Auto box surround would look good.
A Metal/Plastic trim for the Left footrest
Sliding arm rest like in the New Mazda 6
Rear passenger air vents/ Power outlet
factory Fit Roof rails for the Sport Trim would help diiferenitiate the models a bit more.

On the whole I think the package is very good, If Mazda in the course of the model cycle do a modest amount of tweaking then they will remain at the top of what is a very competetive class. BTW I was pleased to see Today's Auto Express edition rate the CX5 so highly on first day depreciation (2nd place to the RR Evoque)
 
At long last I collected my CX5 this evening. The wife's already had a few texts and Facebook messages from the admiring / jealous neighbours.

The computer recons 36mpg for my diesel auto, worked it out as 33.3 but not sure how full it was when I got a 'full tank' as part of a deal, first fill up. I was expecting more even from new when it is supposed to do over 50. I have to admit most was in very poor weather but there was a 200+ mile journey home from the dealer.
 
I'm starting to get concerned by the number of posts showing poor fuel returns for the diesel, even driven gently.
Mid thirties is poor for general driving.

At present my 2007 designed (2009 car) xtrail shows 39.5 on the average reading, that's a 171bhp manual diesel. It was over 40mpg before the bad weather. (best ever 48mpg)

With these new government figures that tell very big lies IMO, it appears that the urban figure is what you're likely to achieve on a run.
So i believe that's around 47mpg, that's what i would be expecting to see, driven gently.
 
I agree about the figures being a con - the consumption was one of the major buying features for me but this isn't even close - in fact mine is returning about 40% less than the quoted figure and I drive it carefully with a fair amount of motorway driving. Surely there must be some sort of come back on this.
 
If it was the USA then there is, apparently one of the Korean companies has been forced to compensate owners, due to the economy claims being unobtainable.
