How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

Thanks for your reassuring replies - I'm looking forward to the real thing.

Incidentally, does anyone know - can I influence the registration plate in any way (aside from going personalised)? I wondered if the dealer will have a range of plates, from which I could choose one, or is he stuck with whatever DVLA issues for my particular car?

The dealer will have a range of plate (index numbers) and mine told me what they had available. I went for personalised in any case.

It is a brilliant car. Yes I've had a lot to say regards the TomTom, but that is not a reflection on Mazda, it is simply a poor choice on their behalf re supplier.

The oil rise is another issue for me, but to date has been dealt with. It has to be considered, not only is it a new model, it is altogether new technology, and everyone says never buy a new model car that is still untried and tested by the consumer.

I spent nearly a year researching, and I sat in as well as road tested quite a few. I also watched you-tube downloads from Australia as well as America/Canada. Looked at Skoda Yeti, VW Tiguan, Hyundai I-35, Kia equivalent, Ford Kuga, Toyota Rav-4 and some Mitsubishi something or another. Rejected the lot until May last year and had a preview of the CX-5, not available to road test at that time.

I managed to take out a Manual in June for a test drive, and then the auto a week later; then paid my deposit and ordered for Sept 1st delivery.

The 3 month waiting time was fun as I was in anticipation all through the Summer.

You will love it when it arrives!

I didn't even notice until it was pointed out, even then I didn't clock it straight away.

I read it as months!

Has anyone had a first service and could confirm what was done and the cost of parts v's labour pls?

Whatcar paid 200 with their long term CX-5, another I read of paid 250.

I paid about 160 (i think) for my first service which included new oil, oil filter and tyre rotation etc. Second service was around 230 and included the second oil change etc.

My first service is next week and will report back as to the cost.

(I presume you've had 2 services because of mileage as the car hasn't been out 2 years)

Oakmere Mazda, Northwich - 152. Another 25 (slight rip off there) to rotate wheels.

Yes, over 26,000 miles and counting so far and I'll have only had the car a year next month!

I negotiated the 1st service with free labour but my local dealer reckons parts will be approx 90 but would seem only parts are oil and oil filter. Oil volume is 5L. I do not understand how the oil and filter total 90!

Just run in then!
My xtrail took over 20K.

What sort of MPG are you getting?, and what average speed, if you don't mind me asking.

It was funny, because at around 23,500 miles the mpg seemed to jump up! Where i was getting around 44mpg/tank, i am now consistently getting around 48mpg/tank.
It's mostly motorway miles at 65-70mph with the odd blast now and then.

With the xtrail I saw more MPG, and greater flexibility low down.

If I get 44 that will be a 10% increase for me, with the extra torque as a bonus.

I still see very few CX5's, last time I saw one was a week ago, blasting down the third lane of the M62, when I was towing.

Mine's next week and the quote is 180 including the rotation of the tyres (Grimsby)

Why do people get the tyres rotated? Surely it means you have to replace all four tyres at the same time?

A nagging message appears from 6000 miles. Yes, I suppose all the tyres would need replacing at similar times.

Yes, but you can disable the message.

Personally I agree with the theory, don't rotate tyres as will mean replacing all 4 at the same time.
