How many Brits? Fancy a cuppa?

Now i can get the rattles and faults sorted out at the dealership!

I wish you luck with that, I am having a great deal of trouble getting the dealer to accept that rattles in a 25k car are an issue, their view is that they are part of the car.

Roof Boxes

Anyone fitted roof bars and a roof box to the CX-5? - interested to hear your experiences and recommendations. Planning go go to Scotland and with people and dogs I need some more space for luggage..

.bouncing this one. Also need now to take a bike so dogs in back, bike on back rack?, box on roof maybe. Anyone done similar? Saw an image of a cx5 dempsey roof that seems just the job but cant find accessories like that.

Still love the car, easily the best car I've ever had. Getting around 43mpg overall, that seems to improve as it gets warmer. Saw another white cx5 on the M1 near Nottingham couple of weeks back with nice LED dlrs, wish Id got them now, and another white on the a40 near witney. Still like that colour. Cant really tell if i am getting a benefit from g3 glasscoat. The sat nav is great, would like to keep up the live services but TT prices are steep

Hi yes from blighty waiting till July for my cx5 to arrive.Thought I would order the kenstyle kit having problems locating and pricing

Hi, I have nearly convinced myself into buying a CX-5 sport AWD manual, just wondering
a) How well do they cope with muddy tracks
b) I drive mostly b roads/ devon lanes with lots of tractors so are they agile enough to cope with that and what have people found is the mpg with these sorts of conditions
c) I have to carry quite a bit of kit around in the boot so how ,much does that affect the mpg
Thanks

Mine copes very well, probably pay to go for the cheaper model with the smaller wheels, yet larger tyres. Also a set of mud-flaps highly recommended. I was forever clearing the excess off the rear valance, now with the flaps the car looks lower & meaner from the rear

Very agile will love the lanes as mine does and the height is a bonus, no issues with overtaking, mine is a diesel and at last I've found one without appreciable turbo-lag. Suspect all wheel dive will be a must for you.

Don't really notice the lpg, mine is loaded with boxes and golf clubs, and even if I travel up country with it loaded and return empty, no difference as such.

Only snag, there is a 3 to 4 month delay on new but if it is a car you have made up your mind on, then it is worth the wait, plus unlike Nissan Qasqui not common.

Thanks Alex,
I think the cx-5 is the one for me, just need to find the right dealer down here now!
Yeah, was going to go for awd sport to get the reversing camera & heated seats, just the thing for early morning call outs.

I've queried Mazda UK about the lack of roof rails. I'm not impressed with the roof bars accessory - both the look and weight limit are a touch anaemic for me.

Cheers

Had roof rails on my last three cars as standard, never used them.

I'm happy not to pay or carry something I don't use, or need, but they should be available as an accessory, IMO.

I'm glad to see the back of roof bars, my last car was a 2008 Saab 9-3 and the first estate I've owned without.

Get in the way for cleaning the roof, and if black you need to go over with a blackener as you invariably cover them with body polish.

Roof on this one is high enough without the added encumbrance of roof bars.

I have 1 rattle from the roof console. Pushing where the roof lining meets the windscreen stops it. Dealer tried a bit of foam but still there. It was raining so hard when the car was in that I was asked to fetch it in again if it wasn't fixed. I'd suggest calling mazda about it.

I have a really annoying rattle at my left ear, comes from the handle on the roof (after a few beers, I canny mind what the right name is). Constant noise from it, tomorrow its getting sorted, even if I have to smash it off with a hammer.

Not to mention the negative effect on HWY MPG and range per tank.

Alex, do you know if you can get the 17 in alloys on the sport version rather than the 19in. Will it make any difference to the mpg or just make it a comfier ride? Is there much difference in the tyre price between the 17 in and 19in? Sorry for all the questions- trying to work out what the best option long-term is as I do 20,000+ miles a year.

17 in tyres are available as an option. check ouk mazda.co.uk under accessories. the 17in tyres are 785. at present theres a difference of 90 a tyre from 17 to 19 in according to blackcircles.com. So after 9 replacement tyres bought you'd have saved money by changing to 17's. (Assuming the mpg is the same for both tyre sizes). if the mpg is better for 17's then you start saving money sooner.

Whatcar fitted 17" wheels to the long term car that they had, it was a sport.

But to pay nearly 800 extra for cheaper tyres and wheels is crazy.

I'm also not convinced that the smaller wheels do give a better ride, from what I've read.

Also I couldn't tell any difference in ride between the two cars, SEL or sport.

I id get to see two cars in the showroom, one with 17", and the other 19", and the 17" looked small for the car, IMO.

I find the 19" fine. Better ride than my Tiguan Sport which was much harsher over our poor roads.

Thanks guys, I tried out a sport manual today (I'd only tried the automatic until now) and the ride was excellent. Took it down through St Ives to nearly Lands end, and it handled really well along some pretty windy little roads. However sat nav, as usual, not working down here- taking us up dead ends etc. Will be sticking to my OS maps I reckon.. Just having the colour debate with the OH now- black or red, or maybe grey, but then the stormy blue is nice....

I know what you mean about the look, although honest john is fond of the look of the 17's

I test drove two cx-5 with 19" wheels and thought the ride was a bit jiggly. The 17" is less jiggly but not that much of a difference. However I do inflate my tyres to the full load pressures. So 18" is my choice if I have to change wheel sizes. the 19" size of tyre for the cx-5 that mazda put on is quite expensive.

I've seen the 19" tyres at around 145, so I'm happy with that.

My xtrail tyres I can get for 135, so little difference, going on the EU tyre guide rating's the Mazda tyres are a lot better than the xtrails.

my present Xtrail has 17" wheels with 60 profile, I didn't want 55 profile, but that's what the CX-5 comes with.

I would be happy with 17" wheels again, but not at near 800.

you can see why I had a shock :) I've haven't seen the geolanders in the 19"

the geolander in the 17 is about 120 quid which is what I paid for 205/60 r16 continentals on my old car.

I agree with you about the 55 profile tyres I prefer 60 profile.
