how long is the US P5 warranty?

Here, in Canada, the basic warranty is 3 years...I assume it's the same in the US. You can purchase a 1 year extended warranty for about $400.00 CAD. Is this the same in the US? I am asking because when I went to sign my lease, the business manager really pushed me into getting the extra year warranty. It really pissed me off and still does how pushy she was. I ended up getting it and tacking it onto my lease payments. It's been 3 months now and I'm still really pissed off at how pushy she was. Has anyone else got a 4 year warranty? I kept saying I did not want it but I finally gave in. Is the extra year worth buying?

2003: P5: 4 years or 50,000 miles. Standard.

Has anyone got an extended warranty? Because I really feel like complaining to the sales manager. I was really pushed when I said I did not want it. It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

i got 36 month/50,000 mile bumper to bumper as well as powertrain. it was 36/36000, but they upped it to draw in more customers. then for the 2003 models, they changed it to 48 month /50,000 miles.

they always push it. they wanted me to get the 10 year 100,000 mile warranty for $1500. so that's another 50K miles or 7 years... whichever comes first. i wasn't interested. they kept talking about it. then they wanted me to get this paint protector thing for $2000. so i got mad... i said, either stop trying to sell me things i don't want or i'm going to walk out of here and find a dealer who will respect me when i say no.... so i got the car the way i wanted for the price i was willing to pay. no more no less. it was great.

moral of the story, push the dealer around... don't let them push you around. they need to move the car more than you need to purchase it. use it to your advantage.

Why would you need extended warranty for a leased car??? Isn't the lease only for like 3 years so you not going to use it anyway???

Bought a 2003.5 Protege 5, stock warrenty was bumper to bumper 4 year/50,000 miles but extended it to 6 year/75,000 miles bumper to bumper for about $780. First car new car I've ever had. Only went this route because my old 93 honda was in the shop all the time, now I have no worries for 6 years.

My lease is a 48 month lease...so their argument is that I'm paying for the last year of the lease unprotected. I also may want to buy out the car a little early if I can. Another thing is that there is only ONE dealership in Victoria and I did not feel like travelling to Vancouver to shop around. I probably should have. The extra year warranty adds up to $10.00 extra a month. They never gave me the option of just buying it interest free. This was my first new car and boy have I ever learnt a few things for the next car purchase. But still, I love my P5.

I added 5yr/100k extended only because of the miles I drive. I said no several times but they kept cutting the price of it until I said yes. And the only reason I said yes because it minimally affected my payment.

I'm a sales rep for a mazda dealer

2002 3 year/50,000 mile warranty

2003 4 year 50,000 mile warranty.

Mazda extended their warranty a year longer in 2003. That is what the warranty period is in the US, I don't know about canada.

Damn, one more month and 3K miles and I run out!!!

Better start breaking that tranny :D

Any free extension on the 2002 to match the addl year on the 2003+?

in Canada only 3 yr standard warranty, that's what i get, and you can go for Ex.warr for 4 yr, forgot how much, but all sales like to push you in for Ex.warr and paint protection and rust proof, and undercoat.......

Don't know about the US but in Canada if you buy extended warrenty but don't use it (ie. turn in lease early or trade in car before extended warrenty period starts) you will get your money back. The catch here is you have to ask for it.

IMHO, I don't think 10yr/100,000 for $1500 (I assume US) is bad if you're gonna keep the car that long.

But if you don't want it, then the salesperson should shut his mouth and stop pushing. I totally agree with you.
