...change the carpeting out? Anybody on here ever decide to do that? I bought my p5 used and didn't notice it at first, but there is a weird cat-piss smell in the back floorboard. Yeah, its not very pleasant.... I have tried scrubbing it with everything imaginable but it is still there. It seems like it wouldn't be that hard and I wouldn't necessarily have to remove the seats. This maybe a stupid topic but just wondering if anyone out there has done this....

You'd have to remove the seats, but that's not that big of a deal. You may have to remove the dash, though. Hope to hell you don't have to remove the dash!

Anyway, someone on here will know better than I.

You don't need to remove the dash, just the center console and a few of the little trim panels under the dash (like the one covering the fuse box), the seats of course, and all the door sill guards and such. You could get the carpet out within an hour I bet, it's not all that complicated.

Took me about 40 Min, when my Old P5 got flooded. Though I did take a couple of Shortcuts (The Car Was Going to the scrap ward.)

You might get lucky, and be able to get away with just replacing the padding undert he carpet. Chances are, that's what's really absorbed it. If you pull out the actual carpet and shampoo it, the smell will come out... just probably not the underpadding.

id ask dave45090...he recently ripped his out to do an audio install. i really couldnt see it being that difficult

It's not that hard. If you are just wanting to remove your carpet to clean.....i'd say 3 hours to remove and re-install. You will have to remove your seats.....front and the bottom part of the back seats.

i used to work for a carpet cleaning company and we just had a tool called the VaporShark we left in cars overnight and it really got rid of any odor at all even years of cigarette odor and stuff
