How Heavy Is The Stock Clutch Feel?

My car is just like the first post. Has 106k miles, the clutch is heavy, creeks at the bottom of the pedal and released at the floor when I bought it. I adjusted the pushrod to bring it up a little but I'm sure the clutch is starting to go. Doesn't slip but it shudders now and then. I would completely mash the pedal when I got into my 323 after driving the P5.

is your clutch pretty grabby though?

did you buy your p5 used?

You adjusted your clutch engagement pooint on the pushrod? Min grabs about 1/4 inch from the floor and is mildly heavey feel from what others tell me (ms3,ms6, and a few other msp owners). Also when I had my trans rebuilt here recently they stated it looked like the stock clutch!

Yeah, in august. Since I've been driving it I havn't noticed anymore chatter. I think I was getting used to the heavy pedal.

Yes, on the pushrod. Felt like I was screwing it too much making it permanently hold the throwout bearing on the spring but its been fine an moved off the floor about 1.5" or so. The creaking noise is definitely in the clutch so something is amiss in my pressure plate (was there before adjusting too). Won't worry about it till it breaks. Perhaps I'll try to find someone on here that has a used stock one that is in good shape and save it for a rainy day.

Your issue sounds just like my clutch... However when i had my trans rebuilt they stated everything was fine except the throwout bearing which was replaced. Do you know of any how-to's or anything on adjusting the clutch pedal? I'm sure it would be pretty straight forward once I look at it but I haven't.

you need to check for clutch drag when the clutch is pushed in....i think you can check this by pushing the clutch down, wait about 10s, then throw it into reverse. it should go in w/out grinding. if it's grinds, your clutch is dragging

you also need to check to see if the clutch is engaging enough that it's not slipping while you're driving.

mine was definitely dragging before I adjusted it, may still be a little. I haven't had a chance to work on it this week.

Any updates? I'm in the same boat with a squeaky, hard-to-engage pedal on the MSP. No chattering or slipping that I tell, just engagement is a pain.

Anything I can loobe up? Hate to have to do the entire clutch just for this noise.

Like yours, mine grabs about an inch off the floor. And it's pretty heavy as compared to past Civics & Corrolas. Orginal owner w/ 150K miles, so no after market reason.

Based upon others on this site, it sounds abnomal. So, the near floor engagement & heavy clutch must be a symptom of something.
Of course, every dealer has suggested all of my symptoms require a new $1000 clutch.
Probably nonsense, based upon info here.

Mine also shifted super tight. Of course dealers & transmission shop suggested I need a new clutch for that too.

Turned out to be a frozen rear linkage bushing, $20 & some lubricant to free.
Problem solved by help from this site. Great helpful guys here.

So, hopefully others on this site can find the real problem for the close to floor heavy clutch.

I never did get around to taking pictures but the car has been easy to drive. I could be high or something but after my incident with the curb (car flew up a foot or so in the air from the impact) the clutch engagement improved. Like it knocked something loose or back in line. Almost like you said about freeing up the bushing. I'll check that out but I know my squeek/grind during pedal engagement is in the clutch itself (listened while wife pressed it).

I'll try to remember to get pics of the pedal adjustment.

Unrelated, but hell, I'll post here. When its hot out, or I drive a lot, I get a squeak at the bottom of the clutch depression, and there's resistance there. It doesn't do it unless I drive a bit, stop and go, or its hot. It feels 'squeaky' when it happens, too.

Master or slave cylinder?

LMAO..... my engaugement is almost at the floor... about an inch or 2 off the floor.... for having a stage 5+ clutch it is almost stock feling.
mods:
spec ultra light flywheel
spec stage 5+ pressure plate
Spec stage 5+ clutch
Spec throw out bearing and pilot bearing
Good ridge SS clutch line

( my mustang and my hondas clutches were WAY harder to push... although when i drive my girlfriends clutch i slam my foot to the flooron accident.
