How good is the clutch?

I saw the clutch mentioned in a couple of threads that were talking about launching the car. I just wanted to find out if anyone know's how the clutch handles launching the car. I do solo2 events every other Sunday and I plan to take it to the local drag strip sometime soon but I would hate to ruin my clutch in 10K miles (if it is the weak link). I only ask this question because this is the first NEW manual that I have purchased and the clutch warranty is only 12K miles. This worries me. Any thoughts, espically from a dealer, are welcome.

Thanks,
Jdub

i have dragged my car numerous times and i dont have any clutch probs and im at 10K. although my cel has just come on for hte second time and my 4WD light came on at the same time so im waiting to see what they are for.

stock clutch is stiff and sits too high. I need to install an aftermarket that sits lower.....

Read the info at the 6 forums. Seems like the differential is the weak link so far. Haven't heard of any clutch deaths so far.

I know of at "least" 3 dealers that replaced shattered MS6 clutches's in march/may earlier this year. I haven't asked for any updated data recently...but I'd have to say the clutch is a weaker link then the diff if I had to choose any particular weak spot in the drivetrain.

Would go something like this...

clutch>differential mounts>differential*

*once the mounts go it starts flopping around.

I'll see if I can get any more information on # of major drivetrain parts replaced in the 06 model year.

After some 3K miles, either I'm getting use to it, or it's getting use to me. I wasn't too happy with mine when I first got it, but it's fine now.
