How easy is it to sell a Mazda6?

Mazda6 6i 5-door 2004
I have a 2004 Mazda 6i with MT and leather (lapis blue 5dr). It has about 30K miles on it and I was wondering how easy it would be to sell it. I live in NJ.

I've never sold a car before and I'm not sure how much of a hassle it is, or even the best place to try and sell it.

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Go to: www.kbb.com

They will give you the trade-in value (value a dealer should give you, but usually not), private party resale (what you should charge if you sell it on your own) and resale value (what you would expect to pay from a dealer/used car place, which adds in their costs to procure the vehicle).

Go to Cars.com, and autotrader.com to see what similar vehicles are selling for. That should give you a good place to start.

Also, I see you are in NJ, so you can try putting it in the Auto Shopper (the things outside any supermarket). I sold one car through them once. Not too much hassle, just 35 bucks for the listing. I suggest Autotrader.com though. Newspapers are a thing of the past. Dont waste your time.

I looked at KBB and got values from there, thanks.
When I went to Cars.com and autotrader, there were lots of cars like it listed at various prices ranging from $7K to over $15K, however it is difficult to tell what they typically sell for. Seems like some people were listing high mileage cars at a high price and some folks were listing low mileage cars at a low price. Very confusing..

How easily will my car sell you think given that it is an MT, Lapis Blue and a 5dr? I'm thinking that your average Joe is not going to want this car, it'll probably be an enthusiast right?

The 5 speed will definetly turn off some buyers, but the Lapis Blue is beautiful, so hopefully you drag them in that way. Its hard to say how easy it will sell. Naturally, lower the price and it will sell faster, but, its up to you. You will just ahve to wait and see I guess.

There is a person for every car. Don't let the manual scare you. It won't hurt you when selling it.

I used to sell cars for a living and have actually sold many of my own as well. Here is a tip that has gotten me top dollar for all of my cars. Detail it inside and out. I do it myself but if you don't know how have it done. Basically what you want is for the car to fit in the Retail Sale category of Kelly Blue Book. If it does then people will be willing to spend the money on it. I sell all my cars for retail value and get it. Just do your best to get it to fit in that category. It takes a little bit of work but it pays off big time!

I had my car in the paper for months and had like 1 person call me. I put it on craigslist and ebay and was getting lots of potential buyers for it. I would make a post on craigslist it worked great for me and a few other people I know.

actually i think the 5spd will bring in some buyers. especially young adults who are trying to get into the import scene and dont want to drive an autotragic =P
