How easy is DIY for the spark plugs?

there's no "special spark plug socket"... it's just a 14mm spark plug socket... 14mm spark plugs are very common these days across different brands... it's just something new, that's all

Sure there is. They come with a section if high density foam in them to hold onto the plug while you carefully get the threads started so that you don't have to use a piece of hose. (Although a piece of hose and normal socket will work too!)

You'll be surprised at how smooth the engine runs after installing fresh plugs. You've slowly become accustomed to the way the car runs with spent plugs.

that was my experience too. If I had to do it over I would have waited another 10,000 miles at least.
