How do I change the battery in my advanced keyless entry fob?

I have a 2010 Mazda 3 and for the life of me I cannot find how to change the battery in the advanced keyless entry system, or which battery to use. I'm sure that the answer is right in front of my face, but so far haven't found it. If possible I'd love to avoid going back to the dealer. Can someone give me a hand?

You tube has a few videos. And I believe the batter is 1620 or something like that.

It's in the Owner's Manual. page 3-30 for the 2012 MY. I don't know about the 2010 OM, but it should be in there. Look under "Doors and Locks" then "Transmitter Maintenance".

its very easy to change mazda mx5 battery...........

Its very easy.... just follow these simple five steps and your work is done..... very simple.....


1.Remove the standard key that is stored inside the Smart Key. To release it, press the latch on the side of the fob. You can now slide the standard key out of the fob.

2.Insert the end of the key into the small slot at the end of the Smart Key. Give the key a twist and the Smart Key fob will pop open.

3.Gently insert the end of the standard key under the edge of the circuit board that you exposed when you opened the fob. Lift up on the key to remove the circuit board. The battery is underneath.

4.Loosen each of the three clips holding the battery in place and remove the battery. Replace the battery with a fresh one. You can find the correct battery size at Radio Shack or at a pharmacy that carries hearing aid batteries.

5.Replace the circuit board and snap the top of the fob back into place.
