How cold is your AC?

What kind of "contamination" was found? Was there R-12 or another freon blend present? Were there hydrocarbons? Did he see debris in the oil recovered?

Sorry, I have no idea. Whatever it was he didn't say that it represented a serious problem, beyond needing the freon exchanged. To date this mechanic has been very honest - he fixes the things that are really broken, warns about problems that might need attention later, and does not push unnecessary repairs.

That didn't work out too well.

The ambient temperature was 82 F, and while this wasn't in the shade, it was 5:30 PM and the Sun was pretty low. On the P5 the temperature at the outlet dropped to 45 F and then rebounded back to 48 F.

Got around to remeasuring this today. Ambient was 80-81F, in full sun at 11:00AM. The outlet temperature dropped to 43.5F and then rebounded to 45-47F (it was wandering around in that range.) So the service knocked it down 1.5 to 2 degrees, but didn't bring it anywhere near what the manual says it should be.
