When I picked up my '10 speed3 I went to the parts dept with the salesman and told him I wanted the LED tails from the GT model. I was ready to pay on the spot. After a few calls directly to mazda HQ, they said the wattage was not compatible and if they sold them to me it would void my warranty. Personally I dont think they knew what they were talkin about... Id be almost certain you could take em right out of a GT and stick em in a MS3 with no problems. Someone correct me if Im wrong......?

Also, are the turn signals on those LED? Or just the brake lights?

Different tail lights than the 5 door.

They are complete brake lights, not just LED bulbs.
I ordered specifically the Mazdaspeed Axela tail lights which carry a different part number from the standard 2010 Mazda 3s.
I am not sure if there really is a wattage difference. That would be an awful large amount of work to make two systems different.
It is just the brakelights that LED, the turns are an standard bulb.

I agree, it would be foolish to make 2 electrical systems. I think they made a mistake. Its pretty bad when Mazda HQ cant even offer accurate info on their new vehicles. Thats ok, you will get my money not mazda. Id prefer it that way anyways =). Put me on that list, Im buyin!

That doesn't surprise me at all. Mazda USA is just a sales arm. When I was working for BMWNA, it was like pulling teeth sometimes to get technical info from BMWAG. Most times, we just had to figure it out ourselves.

I was thinking about it, but haven't. I kept thinking about trying to get a set of GT tails - not sure what the difference would be with those - and I'm not buying the wattage thing either. Besides the LED's use far less that stock bulbs, so if anything, the system would be overly robust, no?

^ not sure, it makes sense but you would think mazda would love to have sold me an over priced set of tail lights when i bought the car right? who knows...

FYI: Anyone who was thinking about it.... Dealer just quoted me for the outer tail lights for the GT.... $606 for the pair. (+ tax)
Which would be $213 more than what Corksport is charging for them or am I missing something?
