2008 mazda speed 3
Okay so i have an 08 speed 3 with an mscai, cobb inlet, cp-e fuel pump, corksport tbe and my hatch smokes like humphrey bogart but one day i had it idling at my folks house and it started doing the normal smoke at idle with the cat free dp thing. well my pops was like lets pull it up on the driveway to take a look and what do you know on his 4 degree drive it stopped smoking even after 10 min at idle. well i thought maybe it burned off the oil on the housing and thats why it stopped so i put it back on the level street and within a minute it started doing the smoking again so i went back and forth a couple of times with the same results. i think it might be something else other than the turbo but if anyone has input on why that might be happening let me know. and also if anyone here can attempt this and see if the same thing happens i would appreciate that and hopefully we can all firgure this effin' problem out instead of having to compromise on our motors. thanks guys.

interesting..... good observation. maybe the only fix would be to put lowering springs in the rear and keep stock height in the front!!! ahhahahahahaha

sounds like your issue is not a seal/turbo problem, rather a need to purchase a catch-can ;)

I figured out the problem and how to fix it what you do is take off the stock exhaust manifold w/turbo and set them to the side. Next you take a steed speed t3 manifold and t3/t4 turbo and replace. Viola! no more smoking and it only cost $700. Thank you Mazda!

Haha

Show me the Steed plus a T3/T4 turbo package for 700 bucks and I'll buy it!

It has something to do with the oil drain and feed lines for this turbo. They should be enlarged maybe...and maybe Mazda has done that with the most recent revision of this turbo.

steed speed t3 mani $250 from darksun shipped $300 garrett 60 trim from a buddy never used $100 tial 38 mm used from same buddy $50 bucks for dumptube and 5 bolt to vband flange extender to take care of the cs dp. i also spent some money for the vband clamp and wastegate gasket but that would put me over seven hundred so im not going to list those.

I'm curious as to what drive train changes they made to the 2010 speed. Seeing as Mazda has to know about the smoking turbo's and the connecting rods, you think that something will be changed or will they just keep puttin the same engine in a different car?
