Hope for us Auto Guys yet...

Here's some good info for you:
All g-series are created equal. Here is a quick list of cars the G-series comes in (and that this diff will work with):
87 Mazda 323 GT
90-94 Protege LX
91-94 Mercury Capri XR2
91-96 Escort GT, LX-E & Mercury Tracer
92-94 MX-3 GS (pos 1.8 v6)
93-97 MX-6 (both 4 and 6 cyl)
93-97 626 (both 4 & 6 cyl)
93-97 Probe (both 4 & 6 cyl)
95-98 Protege ES (1.8 dohc)
97-99 Kia Sephia (1.8 dohc)
97-present Ford Escort & ZX2's (i'm not sure of this but ppl tell me they use G-series too)
98-01 626 4 cyl (not sure about 6, i forgot if its a k-series)
01-03 Protege w/FS motor (2.0LX, ES, MP3, Protege5, MSP, and in 02' all DX and LX's got the 2.0 standard)

Basically any car with a 1.8 BP, 2.0 FS, or any K-series V6 has a G-series transmission, even the Miata. Theoretically you could swap the 6-speed Miata tranny guts into a FWD transmission (if it'll fit in the bellhousing).

Alright guys. Here's the deal. I have a header that will be shipped out on Saturday, and a cat back pipe (to run from my MS axleback) being paid for this weekend. I just need a midpipe so that I can have a full exhaust. Will the SLS midpipe work and match up or is the tubing different? Also, I was thinking about doing a catless midpipe but that would mean I wouldn't have any cats lol. Good idea or bad idea?

the info just keeps piling up

fish-since your'e not in Cali you have a choice... if your worried about it being too loud and catching too much attention... get a high flow... the high flows flow decent enough and you'll sound deeper and not as open as someone who has no cats, me..... im telling you, man... custom midpipe... go to a muffler shop and ask them for an estimate...

Hmmm Bino that's a very good idea. Should I just buy a high flow cat and then get in contact with the shop or just have them take care of it? Never had custom work done before

Im turbo, trans was sliping bad and then would just rev in fourth no power just rev up, stuck in manual mode and didnt use fourth at all for a week then third started doing same thing, I pulled trans apart last weekend and the direct clutch was the problem .totally wore out no friction material at all, this is deffently the weak point in these trans. I got the alto direct clutch upgrade should fix the problem stock only has 3 clutch plates the kit upgades it to 5, changed all the clutch pack to alto high performance, and also bought the ford racing focus torque converter kit it includes the 32 spline input shaft and a TCS converter. Ill have all this going in the next few weeks so Ill chime back in with results, btw car has 60k -2500mi since turbo. I not doing the VB as it only controls the 2-3 and 3-4 shifts the 1-2 shift , it is computer controled and cant be changed, plus I think manualshift mode is fine, focus dont have this thats why they all get the VB upgrade.
the trans cooler is a MUST for all Autos .

I think on our cars..running no secondary cat hardly gives the engine more hp. Highflow cats are designed really well and still keep you legal, so its up to the driver if they want to risk having no cats on the car if they live in an area where thats a problem.

This is coming from the owner of a catless running protege. :)

I have my protege turboed and its an automatic. Can see mods in my signature. Running 6psi and yes its tons of fun.

How much were each of these upgrades?

Are you having a shop do the work? If so, about how much is all this going to cost you?

B&M part #70264 . I use that one on my boosted automatic protege. It comes with everything you need to install. I would suggest to get a little extra hose. My temps stay around 130-150 degrees.

I am also looking into cooling for trans and oil. Fluidyne, Derale, Setrab, thermo cool

I want to hear more from ASMO!
Which upgrade was this, the rebuild kit?

I run a hi flo cat too

check out the POLL in the last of the threads at the bottom:.

I bought alto master kit #133750ahppsc it includes all clutches steels the power pack upgrade, seals, and filter its for the 4f27e trans.
I would recomend just the #133750ahppwr kit it only has the clutchs and steels with the upgrade but alot of the other parts in my kit I cant use, the ford uses different pump seal and filter etc. I would get a mazda fn4ael over haul kit from transstar or another company and probally have less headaches instead of trying to find the right filter, seals ,etc.
the master kit cost about $250 but I spent another $40 getting the filter and pump seal around town plus you need all the molded pistons the kit doesnt include them. they were bout $200 they are all the same as 4f27e except the reverse one so I bought a 4f27e kit and the other piston seperate, could have saved money but didnt want to wait for order.
I think a transtar kit for fn4ael with the pistons is available cheaper but I didnt know then about the differences between the ford and mazda.
then bought the ford racing #m4209-fd kit it has the heavy duty input shaft and torque converter, they just discontinued this kit so I found it from mcnews auto for $650- about half of retail. It has a TCS converter if you want one they probally will still sell this kit.
And yes Im doing it myself but I have worked as pretty much a mechanic so its not too difficult for me.on a scale of 1-10 a 1 would be installing a CAI a 10 would be the trans,
I run no cats have a non-fouler and every inspection they never even look, lucky me.
