I was thinking about changing out the hood on my car since it got destroyed with nastyness and heat... I was thinking about carbon fiber, but I really dont know what I'm getting myself into... Does anyone have any tips or recommendations?

Actually another thing I was wondering is, when a part shows mazda protege/MP5 then you select either protege or protege MP5 does it mean Protege 5?

Well you could get a fiber images for over $1k.

or you could buy one for 400ish dollars and then have to drop another couple hundred getting it clearcoated so that the finish won't turn to crap after a couple years.

I don't know, never bothered with hood pins. My fiber images hood is easily as strong as the stock hood. I know people with vis hoods and such do the hood pin thing though. It cna't be too difficult.

i got an evo cf hood from vis and no complaints, i did clear it 2 more times just to be safe though, some do hood pins for looks, or for race, my hood locks down tight. i think any cf hood needs extra tlc because they are known for fadeing, but they look great and so much lighter than oem...

The xclerated concepts hood doesn't, because it's clearcoated .. uv protection ftw. Most CF hoods just have gelcoat.

you could always carry a car cover everywhere......

That's my kind of anal-retentiveness.. taken just a tiny bit farther :)

but the car cover would reduce the risk of geting keyed :)

Really? I'd think having a cover would just be asking for some jackass to come key it... or just steal the cover.
