hood weathe stripping

I know many of you have done this mod. Most have had it for somewhile now and I was wondering how it is holding up? Because I remember somone saying it might have weakened the hood or something?

Also do I just pull the weatherstripping off the rear of the hood?

there's supposed to be 2 screws or something that hold it in place. from what i understand, just remove those and pull it off. as for your other questions, i don't know.....not planning on doing this little mod right now.

no screws involved. there are little clips that you leave in the hood and take out the rubber part. about 6 of them i think, not sure on the exact number.

There are 5 or 6 small "T" style clips along the bottom of the weather-stripping. You need to start at one end and gently work the stripping off of the t-clips. The clips will stay attached to the plastic venting. Hope this helps you out.

Ps. It didnt seem to weaken the hood structure. I wouldnt be sitting on the hood or anything regardless, though.
Rock On !!

people have found that by removing the weather stripping, it allows the hot air in the engine bay to flow out better, thus reducing under hood temps.

well I took it off today after I drove around. Tomorrow I am gonna go on a lil trip so I will see how it works.

You're not going to notice any real differences. It's more of a unseen mod that does affect performance somewhat, but not enough to warrant a dyno pull to see the differences.

I am not expecting it to increase power, just trying to help it perform better.

This takes heat out of the engine bay, and heat is bad for a engine. Also, that is why I am gonna add water wetter because it reduces hot spots in the cyclinder head.

There is a differences in temperature decrease w/o the weather stripping. After reading the long post about it, i decided to do the same to my car. I took off the weather stripping at the back off the hood and it seems to be releasing slight amounts of heat. It's better then nothing, but at least there's heat escaping.

It's no big deal, just a rubber lining to keep noise and heat in the engine bay when it's cold outside.

has anyone taken all the weather stripping? The two rubber lines upfront too?

I've taken them all off, but I did so before reading that I shouldn't have. Apparently it'll screw with your hood alignment or something since nothings there to "pad" it. However, I have not noticed any differences physically. Then again, my bumper and hood are already screwed up due to an accident
