I have only had it on for a week but I think it will do a pretty good Job. There are areas of about 8 inches on each side where the hood is not protected but this is where the hood begins to angle up toward the windshield so it should not be as much of problem as the leading edge. Imo is looks like it was meant to be there.

I thought about the clear bra but since I have a white car I did not want to deal with the line showing and it will after the product ages. Dirt will get under the edge over time. It happened on my last car. I think a darker color would hide the line better. I suppose you could wrap the entire hood, but that is costly. I am going to put the clear bra on my front bumper, the product is sitting here waiting for me.
Go with the 3M clear bra. Invest the money. The hood edge protector does nothing to protect you from rocks... Honestly.. Waste of money... I'd know. I got one... HAHA.
I love the look of the hood protector. I thought it was a deflector for bugs and dirt and rocks, but it's a protector.
It's installed by 4 or 5 clips and double sided tape.
