HKS SSQV recirc hose kink fix

Just a bit of background, I have a CP-E CAI and recently purchased the Mazdaspeed3-specific HKS SSQV (part # 71004-AZ008), which has an angled flange to help clear the TMIC shroud. I attempted to install it in recirc, but I couldn't get the stock recirc hose to fit without kinking, so I purchased a new one from SU. The fitment was OK, but as the pictures below show, the recirc hose still had a kink and the shroud was touching the SSQV. I figured over time that the hose would apply pressure to the valve due to the kink, but with the shroud keeping it in place, something would have to give (bolts, gaskets, clamps) in time.

So after doing some research, some people use a copper pipe to alleviate the problem, so off to Home Despot I went. Instead of a straight pipe, I bought a 45 degree, 1" copper elbow and some 1 3/4" hose clamps for $10.

I hacked up the stock recirc hose because it has a natural bend on one end, and used the copper elbow to angle the hose towards the inlet. Works great, doesn't rub against the intake like before, and the SSQV isn't touching the TMIC shroud any longer. No more kinks either, even drives a bit better now.

All i did was rotate the recirc hose a bit and BAM, no more kink.

Edit: I don't have the angled flange so that could be why

ha, i was going to do this, i even had the copper thing. but i ended up just getting a different valve

More than likely. I tried every which way to make the stock recirc hose line up but couldn't. With the copper elbow, I could rotate and adjust the hose to make it fit perfectly.

I think S*T*R*E*E*T U*N*I*T sells silicone hoses for this and you can pick different colors for bout 20 bones. (burnout)

That was with the SU tube lol that fits horrible n/m

Not horrible, just OK. The problem is that there are so many BOV/intake combos, it's hard to guarantee a perfect fit. I've been working on cars long enough to almost never expect a flawless install.

recirc hose was a major pain in the ass for me also
i rotated that hose every which way and could not get it to stop kinking
i ended up doing the lowes 1" copper pipe thing also
and the ssqv is still angled down a little, it's not horizontal
because it's pushing up on my cobb intake.

i bought the su silicone recirc hose also, but haven't messed with it yet
i just cut the stock hose

Kp-e

Silly its not CP-E its KP-E (Kain Performance Engineering)

(yippy)now people wont complain about the kink(yippy)

I wonder if I could do this with my setup. My Cobb turbo inlet seems to have put the Cobb intake a bit lower in the engine bay. Now it contacts the recirc hose :\

Between this, my slightly kinked boost tubes from the ETS intercooler, and the fact that my cobb intake looks like it's starting to form an elliptical shape where it meets the inlet, I can barely sleep at night :(

if its forming an elliptical shape its because you have the hose clamp to tight. Also because cobb sent thin metal sleeves and they seem prone to bend from the clamp.

Yea :(

I don't know whether I should try to bend the sleeve back or just leave it be. It doesn't seem to be getting any worse.
