HKS SSQV, Hardpipes, and...stalling?

Ok. I'm really new to these cars, but I just don't see what the problem is here. The only thing I can think of would be the MAF is seeing the massive loss of air in the pipe, and doing something to stall out.

Mods on car: Street Unit Hardpipes w/ HKS Flange, HKS SSQV (stock bypass valve is also in place), and a cone filter. That's it.

If I'm in boost, and let off the gas + go into neutral, it stalls completely. If I keep it in gear/the revs up, it will sort itself out, and I can go into neutral a few seconds later.

Help?

Thanks!

i just put mine on last week with the hks. i ran my bpv to the brake booster and was going to run the bov there as well. but i could not wait to hook it up so i just tapped into my line coming from the wastegate and mine has yet to stall i can rev up high and it does not stall only stalled the first time i turned the car on. ever since then nothing. also i did not move my maf. here is some pics of the setup.

adrock can you take a picture of your setup? Placement of each valve may be contributing to it, or maybe your BOV is set too loose? That is if the SSQV has an adjustment bolt.

If those pictures above are correct, then I think I put the stock bypass valve back on backwards..haha!

I'll check when I get the car back (It's my brother-in-law's).

yeah the bpv is the way it should be i just tapped it into the brake booster line.

Would being on backwards really affect its functioning? It's just an open/close valve.

03MSP, absolutely. The valve must be able to hold vacuum when you are on throttle...it will only open in ONE direction. Hence the big arrow that is molded onto the side of it.

Yessir. Turned it around, and not it only stalls if you let off the gas, under boost, in 2nd gear, below 3000 RPM. I'm pretty sure that'll work just fine for this :).

Good to hear :)

Now move your MAF and watch your RPMs never even dip down :p

How exactly does one go about moving the MAF? I suppose I could search, but for quick reference, I ASSUME it would put it on the long Intercooler-to-throttle body pipe..which would require cutting of the glorious new hardpipe :(

Actually, that could be a very good thing. Stupid pipe got all scratched up right down there by the coolant jug's bracket..

Yep that's exactly right. Put it between the BOV and throttle body, as close to the throttle body as you can get it.

I've heard that can damage the MAF. Is that true?

I've never heard a single person have their 2.0 MAF fail while relocated.. any I'm pretty much everywhere on these forums so I figured I'd see it haha.

Mine is relocated with an HKS SSQV and is working fine :)

well, the only problem with this is..my BOV, with the ********** hardpipes (bought the set with the SSQV flange already on it), the BOV is far too high up to mount the MAF in between the TB and BOV.

I think I might just keep the setup as-is for now, unless I get another option available, as the car drives almost perfect already. Now, if I happen to go FMIC eventually, I'll just do it then. :D

Sucks about the street unit hardpipes. Cullen should have known that people need to relocate the MAF if they are using a BOV.. I have a perfect amount of room between my BOV and throttle body for the maf relocation.. you really only need like 3-4 inches between the BOV and the maf housing so that turbulence doesn't mess with it.

Someone should let ********** know so they can revise the product.

which pakage did you buy, im looking into just geting the hardpipes and the Hks. but it seems like its almost worth buying the full hiboost set with the fmic because hardpipes are so expensive, did you get hardpipe to turbo too with it?

Yeah I'd just keep saving up and just go right for the hiboost fmic kit wit HKS SSQV. that's the core I run on my car, I like it :)
