HKS SSQV fitment

I think I have decided to get the HKS valve. But I am concerned about the fitment.

Initially I wanted the MS3 specific valve so there would be no messing with the oring. But after seeing this thread:

http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123729755&highlight=ssqv

It seems that the return tube needs modification. I was looking for a BOV that could be easily removed and returned to stock if I needed to go back the dealer. Does the mazda specific kit allow you to "spin" the valve to get the best angle or is it non adjustable?

Would I still have the same kinking issue if I went with the standard oring kit?

Does the standard oring kit also have an issue with hitting the intercooler shrould?

Cost is not a concern just looking for the easiest installation without having to do permanant modifications.

So which kit should I choose?

Also looking at this kit:

http://www.dabears2k.com/product_info.php?cPath=39_63&products_id=140

Comes assembled for $25. But is there any mods to the return tube required? Or interference with the intercooler shroud?

Thanks

The MS3-specific kit (the one I have and you linked) offers the "best" fit because of the angled flange. Even still, it was designed with VTA in mind first, so no matter the kit, you're going to experience clearance issues with either the recirc hose or the TMIC shroud.

You can twist the valve within the flange with the MS3-specific kit, but you will have to modify the hose in some way if you want absolutely no kinks or pressure on the valve or flange.

If you get an aftermarket TMIC, that pretty makes all the fitment issues moot.

Whe i installed my hks i didnt have to do anythign except reclock the back part of the valve (where the small vacuum line goes) so that it would not hit the front bumper.

Which version of the SSQV do you have, which flange, and which intake and intercooler? Everything I've seen with CP-E, PG or HKS's kits (specifically the finned, revised valve) people were having clearance issues, mostly due to the TMIC shroud.

So the mazda specific item will twist.. Thanks.

One more thing I have a MSCAI. Will the HKS valve have any clearance issues with the intake?

i bought a kit from cp-e a while back, came with the flange and all the s*** i needed to install the valve. It says to reclock the back part of the valve in the instruction manual so it wont hit and you can tell why once you look at it. stock besides the valve and intake. non finned non adjustable hks ssqv

I have the dabears2k RKM BOV kit v2....here are my impressions

the flange is a CP-E copy...looks and works exactly like CP-E....I am able to rotate the valve as much as I want in order to make it work....I also bought an SU silicone recirc hose to go along with the kit

I cut the SU hose to length....installed everything and it works fine....just a TAD bit of kinking....I doubt its going to cause any problems....I also have an ETS TMIC so the shroud is not a problem for me

overall, I think mazda should have designed their BOV location further down the cold pipe...it sits way too high and is clocked in a weird way...but then again, mazda did not have the intention of their customers modifying the BOV...lol
