is it ricey?? i dont want the textbook loud ass rice exhaust. also is it self install or does it requre welding?

its self install. i like it because it has a angled n-1 look to it. i havent heard it yet but i will be getting it on thursday and i will tell you how i like it.

The exhaust is not "ricey" at all. If anything it's a deep exhaust note that really comes on strong around 3k-4k rpm. It's not buzzy or farty at all! I installed it myself and it was a breeze.

Does it drone at highways speeds (70 ~ 80MPH) ?
I want a good sound without any drone since I commute a long ways everyday... Thanks for the input!

Fastdrvr - It does drone but mind you I don't have the silencer in(they get stolen too often). However, with the silencer, the drone is considerably less and the radio easily kills it. Regardless of the exhaust system, our cars like to run 3000rpm+ on the highway and it would be hard to find a performance exhaust that does not drone!

you should get the hks springs and you'll have everything hks makes for uor car. btw tell me how do you like the intake after you get it? does the circle earth system make a difference?

Shawnthemonster - The intake is on order... Ordered it from Optauto.com about a week ago and I haven't recieved it yet. As for the Circle Earth system, it is something I'm considering on doing in a week or 2. They don't offer a protege-specific kit and I would have to use a universal kit. As for lowering, I can't lower my car with the weather around here. I've learned the hard way once on that!

hmm, are there any real power gains, or does it change the curve? i saw a supposed dyno test that added 12HP at the wheel on a WRX

Stealth5 - I don't know how much of a gain there was... All I know is that between 3K-6Krpm, it's a lot more peppier.
