HKS intake

any reason that this intake wouldnt work on our cars?

hks lists one for a 99 es and an 02 p5.... wtf. i always thought the motor and stuff was the same in the p5 and in mp3s
both 2.0L dual cam so whats the deal?

isn't that just the filter? if so, that's more of a universal fit than anything. unless there's some kind of piping included...

i personaly wouldnt pay that much for a "filter" but hey, if you want to buy one have at it, it will work

well i was just puzzeled because i thought the same thing. im not really in the market to buy anything like that, but i dont see any difference in buying a 100 filter and buying a 164 filter and pipe, that is of course unless your into *bling bling*

Ok, let me explain. I had this HKS intake on my '01 ES. It is simply and HKS filter, a cage for the filter, and all of the brackets needed for installation. It does not have replacement piping like the Injen and AEM.

The filtration was questionable because my oil seemed to get dirtier than normal, however there was a pretty significant power gain in the upper band. The sound was also pretty nice. There is no reason why this would not fit an MP3. I had the one listed for the 1.8 1999 model and just had to bend the brackets a bit. All of the other parts in the kit are identical. The one for the 02 P5 should be a perfect fit for the 2.0 motor.

yeah, but i see no real power gains from getting aluminum pipes, so i may try this thing out and see how i like it after it warms back up. i think that you have to change the filter element every month or so with the hks or it doesnt filter worth s***, or thats what i hear, anywho thanks for the input.

as far as the comment about using the search, i tried and couldnt find what i wanted.

Yeah I would recommend changing the filter every oil change. They are 200mm filters and are about 8 bucks a piece. You will notice how quickly they get dirty.

I felt the same way about the pipes. Since I wasn't building a show car, I got the HKS more for functionality than anything.

Ask Kidkorrupt. In all of my cars that I've moded, I've only used HKS filters.

well, i just sort of though about what i wanted, i didnt want anything too over the top, but i also liked the idea of it breaking up towards the back of the car. i drew out basically what i wanted and then just started looking around to see if someone had something similar. my design was almost identical to the one that modern image had already made, so i just ordered the stripes from them. my original version was thinner and had an arrow like shape on the bottom of the front.

i spent about 170 shipped for the kit which included both sides
