HIDs and stock projectors

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums and wanted to ask a few questions about upgrading the lighting on my '04 Mazda 6s. I tried searching through threads, but couldn't find all of the specifics that I needed.

I have an MTEC 4500K HID kit sitting in the box, waiting to be installed. However, I only will to install it if it won't cause any problems such as glare to other drivers.

I keep hearing that the stock mazda low-beam halogen projectors are the same ones as used on other hid-equipped mazda 6 models, and that they are suitable for a plug-and-play kit. I know that doing a projector retrofit is the best way, but that's just too involved for me, hell, I don't even have a working oven :P and don't really want to take apart the headlights or spend more money on these things.

My questions to you are: does anyone have one of these kits in the stock lights, and can you describe the results. So far I've seen that the stock projectors have a fairly sharp cutoff with the HID upgrade, as can be seen here http://youtube.com/user/Juice14G, but what about hot spots and glare to the sides? Is the cutoff where it's supposed to be, below the trim line of other cars? (Keep in mind, the house in the video is downhill.) Finally, is there any oem-like color flicker with a kit and the stock projectors, or just solid light?

If this kit won't give good results in the stock housings, I'll just throw 2 sets of Osram Nightbreaker bulbs in the lights and call it a day, since those are the highest rated halogen lights out right now and seem to make a big difference from the crappy stock lights.

Thank you in advance for listening to my ramblings :)

I have a friend in stalled the HID kit in his Mazda3 that came stock with halogen projectors. His is fine. I don't think it should be too bad. You can always install it, but not hide the ballats just as a test run. If it's no good, keep it easily removable. If it works out, tuck the wires away and you're good to go
