Hidden Subwoofer?

Hey guys,

What are my options for installing a hidden subwoofer in my P5? I really want it to look stock and don't want to take up any trunk space.

I'm thinking maybe something small under the passenger seat, or something that fits in the spare tire? Do such things exist?

I think a small one should be fine, I'm not looking for big bass, I just want a stronger, more precise low end sound than the stock 4-speaker setup.

Thanks!

Your best option is a fiberglass box tucked into the corner of the hatch. The one at the link below is a 10" but you can save even more space by going with an 8"
Protege5 Fiberglass Subwoofer box

Nothing will fit under the seats so don't bother with that approach.

You could remove the spare tire and put something in there but nothing will fit "in" the spare tire unless you want to raise the floor similar to the 2003.5 Protege5 which came with a sub-par factory subwoofer.

I would sell you my factory sub and floor spacers. It is the 03.5 that people keep mentioning.

The 03.5 P5 was available with a sub+amp that fit inside the spare tire. Find one of those :)

I had that sub in my P5. It was ok at best. Very tough to find and really not worth the money. I just gave mine away to a friend when I sold the car.

In short, it takes up more space in your hatch than a conventional box and sounds roughly equivalent to a 5" speaker in a bucket...and that's all it is.

The subwoofer is the crown jewel of the car stereo system. This is what creates that beating sound that you hear on cars as they pass you on the street. These are what get you noticed and these are what so many car stereo system enthusiasts will spend their money on.
