I've searched like crazy and can't find an answer. I am looking for HID's for my 06 Mz6 S's headlights, however, I am told that I have to drill out the dust caps for most kits? Is this true?

If it is not, does anyone know a quality brand HID I can purchase that does not require drilling/modifying anything OEM?

Yes, since the wiring isn't pre-run inside the headlamp assembly, you have to drill a hole and insert the grommet on most HID kits to seal up the bulb housing. It's not as hard as you think, and if you're worried, pick up a spare set from a junkyard/dealer to play with.

I've had good luck with DDM's HID kits, and for the price you can't go wrong.

There's not gonna be any kits that you don't have to drill for. I mean, I suppose you could not drill if you didn't want to, but the dustcap wouldn't close right, and the wires would be pinched. Just pick up a spare set if you're really worried.

I guess I haven't really looked at my headlight assembly, but if I drill thru the dust-caps, could that cause the whole assembly to fog up in the WI climate?

Possibly. I'd suggest some silicone over the wires to somewhat seal it up again.

Well, rather than restarting a new thread, I'll ask here.

For a DDM 35watt kit, what's bright white in terms of "k?"

Stock HID temp is right around 4300-4500K. 5000k is a bit whiter. 6000k is just starting to get a blue tint.

Thanks Jay. I don't have the MS6 so I don't have anything to compare it to, LOL. 35W, 5k it is.
