Hid Kit Install

I just bought a ddm 55w 6000 hid kit for my MS3. When I do the install I have heard about the notorious clip and what a pain in the ass it is. My question is when installing would it be easier to remove the bumper and light assemble or just do it with everything on the car?

I was also told this will be a plug and play and hope it is.(boom06)

On my first attempt, I tried without taking off the bumper.. too much of a PITA!! After about 45 minutes of going no where, I gave up. On my next attempt, I pulled the bumper and the head lights.. much much easier.

I got the DDM slim kit and it is plug and play.

Do you guys have the problem where the lights seem to bounce around on bumpy roads? If i stick my hand in the housing, it seems like the plastic that goes on the HID's and where the clip presses down on, is flimsy and not tight enough to save it from bouncing around.

I don't have that problem. Sounds like you didn't screw/lock the bulb in place properly. If I remember correctly, the bulb needs to be turned about 1/8 of a turn to be locked into place and there's 3 prongs that need to be in for it to be secure. If you missed one of the prongs then this will cause the bouncing. . .

It is deff alot easier to take the bumper off. I tried for a hour or so without removing the bumper because I was worried about doing it on a car with 2,000 miles on it. But really it is soo easy to do, it took me maybe 20 min to get the bumper off and I could do it quicker now for sure. Save yourself the time and hassle and just remove the bumper. :) good luck! Shoot me a message if you have any questions, I am more than happy to try and help.

I'm noticing that too on mine as well. It doesn't bother me that much as long as on-coming traffic doesn't see them "bounce."

RUMBLEFISH, take some notes.. some good info here!

yeah me too and it is anoying ass hell to me i have taken them off and put them back on but it always seems to happen

so im looking at the 6000k DDM HID Conversion kit at the moment. however, i dont know which bulb type to choose. anyone know? (H1, H7)??

What kit have the guys with the bouncing lights used? Is it with all the kits out there or one in particular????

DDM 35W slim kit. My bulbs should seemed like they were secure since the "b**** clip" was nice and snug on both head lights.

my clips are on like a champ but if i hit uneven ground good enough my lights shake as well
