HID install question

I have a 2010 Mazda5. I've got the DDM Ultra HID kit (larger metal ballasts).
Wanted to see how people install them. Also, is there some trick to do these? I heard something about a plastic spacer?

Hello, the DDM Kit should have came with the plastic spacers. If they didn't, you should get in contact with them because you will need them to properly install the bulbs inside the headlamp housing. As far as the ballast, you will have to get creative on where to secure them either with 3M double sided tape or by the brackets DDM sells as well. Most people put them on the firewall that runs along with the fender.

yeah, it should have right? I can't find it.
When you check their site about the H7 spacer
http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/H7-Spacer.H7-Spacers-Pair

it says: "You may have experienced issues installing your H7 bulbs that you bought elsewhere. If that's the case, the company you purchased them from did not include a required H7 bulb spacer to help install the H7 bulb.
Here is your one-stop-shop to fix your problem that many kits on the market leave you with"

that sounded to me like this should have come with a pair... :P

nope, they want me to pay $2 for the part and $6 for shipping... might return them instead.

Wow that's crap! DDM has lost its edge in my opinion. When I first started using them back in 2010 when they were a new company their products were top notch. Slowly as time has passed their products have really diminished in quality. Good thing I don't need them because both my Mazdas have OEM HIDs. Sorry chapel...

They're sending me a pair free of charge after I asked for a return. I bought the Ultra HId kit too. I spent good money.

Good that they did the right thing, bad that you had to twist their arm to make them do it. I would vote with my money in the future. Check out TRSs website their customer service has been A1 for a long time

I probably didn't have to twist their arm that much... I probably could have called and made nice.

do you guys have to drill out anything to fit the wires?

No drilling required on my 2006 since the dust boot provided the hole for the wires but I'm not sure if the 2008-2010 housings are different

Hope these "Ultra" HIDs are worth the extra cost.
I have cheapo Xentec HIDs in my E36.. they're decent, but have a shadow.

Ok, so question:
I have the spacers now.
Do I need to cut the rubber wire grommet off to get the spacer on or do I cut a channel in the spacer?

*edit
nevermind, I figured it out.

I removed the main power leads from the rubber grommet. Then I was able to put the spacer through the two main wires.
At that point I could squeeze the rubber grommet with the two wires through the spacer hole.
When I finally get it in, I'll use the rubber grommet in the factory seal to seal it up nice.

Run the ground wire to the chasis, and make sure you have a good ground. I was having mis firing issues with my headlights where one or the other would not turn on at first try, it was the ground. I have all new coming. I bought 55w quick fire HID for my highbeam supposded to be full intensity at 1.5 seconds. and 35w for my low beams.
