HID headlight help

Noobie Question:

So i have a 2007 Stock Mazdaspeed 3 and i wanted to get brighter lights & fog lights. My question is, can i just switch out the bulb and add in brighter 55w bulbs to my xenon HID headlights? or do I have to buy a brighter HID.

Plus, do i just change out the bulb for my fog lights too?

i'm guessing you have a gt since you say your "xenon hid headlights?". so if you do indeed have a gt then you need to order a 55w hid kit. you'll have to replace the bulb and slap the ballasts somewhere. same goes for the fogs, just with a 35w hid kit. 55w gets washed out so 55w/8k really will look like 35w/6k.

I thought these cars (MS3's) came stock with HIDS? I got a bare bones trim with no leather, no sunroof, no heated mirrors..but I have HIDS. I just assumed it was standard on all Speed 3's

no speed comes with sunroof or heated mirrors. Sports have halogens and GT HID

Skallen is in Canada. The cars are equipped differently in Canada and different options are available (heated seats and mirrors I think). I think he is right that they may all come with HID's up there as well. I can't remember exactly what all is different, but I remember seeing that there were several differences with the MS3's they sell there.

Correct me if im wrong but

The ballast controls the wats (35w vs 55w)
and the bulb is what type you want (h1 and all the other s***) and what temp you want 3k-30k

Canadian MS3s come with heated mirrors and only in one trim level, no Sport or GT. They also came in white earlier than U.S. models and have a darker finish on the wheels.

I do have heated mirrors apparently...They are always heated...There is no control to turn them on/off. However I don't have leather, sunroof, or heated seats...Which trim level would that be to get all of that? In my 09 regular 3 I had HIDS, sunroof, heated seats, mirrors...everything except leather. And that was a GT Sport..This car had no indication of trim level and it didn't say on any of my paperwork when I bought it..Just curious

no Speed 3s came with a sunroof stock because it ****** with the aero or something like that i dont remember what the problem was

Long gone...It's an 07 and I bought it 5 months ago...I am aware that it was just the bolsters that were leathered. And the door panel inserts I believe...I'm just wondering if the sunroof and other s*** were options, or if they came with some sort of trim level

Never was a sunroof. people that have them got them done custom
