HID bulbs for fogs (H11)

Have anyone experience problem with the HID H11 bulbs being too long and can't fit the fog lights housing? I've purchased a H11 HID kit from xenon depot a few months ago and didn't get a chance to put them on until this past weekend and thats when I noticed the problem. If so, what did you guys do to make it fit?

I'm actually doing my fogs this afternoon and just noticed that my H11 bulbs are too long too. I read a post somewhere earlier today about a guy who took the fogs apart, baked them, then added a couple washers to the screw that holds the little metal thing and that solved the problem for him, although he had to track down a longer screw to hold the metal reflector in with the added length from the washers...BUT I can't seem to find that post now.

So no, you aren't the only one with the problem. I heard a couple people just removed the metal piece too, although I don't want to do that since I think the HID's are going to be way too bright to oncoming traffic that way. (?)

Good luck whatever you end up doing.

i took a screwdriver and pushed the little metal thing out and down enough to clear the bulb

AWD, did you put 35w or 55w in your fogs?? I got a really good deal on 2 sets of 55w 8000k HID's with ballasts so I'm doing them in my low beams and fogs and I just worry that pushing the metal thing out of the way will make those 55w bulbs in the fogs really annoying for everyone else on the road, even though I don't have my fogs on too often. But I don't know much about HID lighting so I'd appreciate any advice/input from someone who's already done it.

i've got 55w in both the fogs and low beam also. i didn't push it out at all, it's just moved farther forward so the bulb can fit, it still covers the end of the bulb.
also order the relay harness from rpmstore it makes the lowbeam 55w kit so much easier.

Well it turns out one of my H11 bulbs from RPM got damaged during shipping any way so I won't be doing the fogs until I get those returned but it's nice to know I can just bend the metal piece forward a bit. It looks like the Apexcone bulbs from RPM are just barely too long any way, and thank goodness because I really feel weird about putting anything other than chicken or cow carcass in my oven.

Hey AWD, do you happen to remember how you wired your ballasts for your low beams? I'm not terribly comfortable with electrical work and I just wanna make sure I'm tapping the right wires for those darn D2S lights.

Yeah you're right, the relay harness would have been a lot easier to deal with. I just have the "Plug and Play" harness, which, come to find out, isn't actually PnP for the Speed6's. Do you happen to remember what color wires the + and - are in the headlight housing? I had spliced into the old connector from the stock ballast, thinking that'd be the easiest place to tap into the low beam circuit, but when I went to test the lights I'm not getting anything...

i spliced into the main harness running into the whole headlight itself, rectangular plug with probably 10 wires running in and out. I just used a circuit tester and turned the headlights on and off till I found it.

Does anyone know which color wires are the + and the - on the oem fog light connector?
