This week i've noticed alil hiccup in power at around 5000 rpms. I've looked in my door sill and underneath the hood for a sticker stating i've been flashed, and haven't found one. I've got 2800 miles on the car if it matters. Any opinions?

I wouldnt get it flashed cause you wont notice any difference. Ive had my car flashed and have noticed no change at all and niether has my friend with his speed

so this is a symptom of being unflashed? i always thought the car would ride roughly more often if it wasn't flashed? besides alil rocking in first, this "hiccup" is my only other complaint.

The dealership did not use the correct flash then. I noticed a *huge* difference in the driving characteristics. Then again, I drive my car *a lot* and notice things like that..

Characteristics of unflashed? Hesitation. :)

So should I go get it reflashed again? where can I get the correct flash?

I too noticed a big difference but it still hesitates a little. I even have joe p FPR and it still hesitates. I wish someone would come up with a cheap but very reliable fix.

the hesitation really irritated my uncle. and he had the flash and noticed nothing. When he put the exhaust on it completly killed it. he says there is no more hessitation now.

hopefully the same will happen to me when I get my exhaust!! this hesitation sucks

The reason why alot of you guys who recently flashed don't notice anything is because it's still considerably cold outside. The flash was mainly released due to the hesitation problems the car was experiencing due to the rich fuel maps and warmer climates causing a hesitation so bad, it almost threw you forward in your seat. With colder temperatures, the hesitation, naturally would be less magnified, due to more ambient air leaning out the A/F mixture. Alot of people misconstrued the "smoother power curve" for a "faster car." Thus people getting the flash when they didn't even need it to begin with, and for the wrong reasons.

When i blew my intake boot they reflashed my ECU, after that i got noticable gains throughout the powerband, however in 3rd at about 4500 it bucks 2 real quick and then pick up again and its been 35 degrees here. Freakin annoying! guess i got to lean the fuel even more!!!!!

I have a sticker on the underside of the hood. It has some writing in marker on it and says something to the effect that a Mazda authorized modification was made. I can't look at it now. You should be able to tell if it is the right sticker just because it doesn't look like the other stickers(like the emissions one) that are pre-printed from the factory.

Cool thanks I will check out ASAP(dance)

Could it be the intake switching runners? I haven't studied the intake closely, but it appears to be very similar to the one on the 1.8 DOHC motor, and that one has two sets of intake runners. There's a butterfly or diverter that switches from the long rounded runners to a short and straighter set at around 4-5k rpm. I've been meaning to ask if the 2.0 liter intake is set up like the 1.8 intake. I can feel the intake switching over on my '91 Escort GT. It's pretty noticeable.
