thats a waste...250 or whatever and only use half the piping....i would look for a good metal shop and just get a custom one

aem scraped the sri :(.......well actulally some guys were talkin to smuggler at the recent car show we (as a club) went too....they do all sorts of exhuast work and have a mandrel bender....i dont see y they cant make a nice 2.5 or 3" intake for ya......i got the number at home...i planed to call them once my freakin suspension stuff is done :)

Projekt- have you felt or monitored your engine temps since the addition of the fmic? It's much hotter in the bay now and although many say to go with the SRI I'd consider sticking with the CAI. Not looking for debate, just putting that out there for Projekt to consider.

I have the HiBoost FMIC and the engine temps seem fine (although I thought the underhood temps went up a little), but the gauge is in the same place as it used to be. I have even taken a decently long highway trip and it held up fine.

Highway sure. Your traveling at 80mph in open air. The temps will be great. The stock gauge is 100% geniune fisher price. It will move but you will have to overheat and have smoke pouring out of the hood for it to move. Under hard driving conditions (not stop and go, which is the worst for temps, but hard country road driving) my radiator overflow bottle will fill to the brim.

Well, my temps were fine through the 7 or so runs I did at the track. It is most likely hotter than stock, but not dangerous.

Just go to a local shop in your area and get an intake made for you. Shouldn't be that much since it would be a very short section of pipe. No short ram style intakes are mass produced for our cars.

Maybe there is a reason there are not too many short ram air intakes out there...dude go COLD AIR! (nana)

If you have a frount mount I don't think you need the extra piping to get air from the fender. The frount mount will cool down the air you get...thats what its there for. And you want the filter (where the air enters the intake piping) to be as close to the turbo as posible...shortest distance the air has to travel..

It can always be cooler. The IC will cool it down but why not START with cooler air to begin with?
