Juan is notoriously slow in disseminating information (from what I've gathered). If you get in a hurry, you'll only be disappointed. (shrug)

DOH!
do you guys think its possible (within a certain budget) to just make a custom setup?? the biggest thing for me is the computer part of it. is there a ecu flash for our cars yet?? if not then how would i get it tuned? (sorry if those are stupid questions i dont really know too much on the computer end of this whole thing)

yea i know he had a test car out here in cali for it, but i have'nt heard anything yet

so what do u guys think about the idea of just makin a custom setup. i found a guy around here that makes custom manifolds (good quality too). so whats gonna be the hardest part to get right with this car????

Hardest part is definitely going to be the ecu and fuel management. As of right now there is no one that has cracked/hacked it as far as I am aware. Only way to effectively get away with it is to go with a dedicated FMU and go from there.
The engine itself is pretty much begging to be boosted, so no problems there.
As of right now Custom setup is not really feasible unless you have money to throw away.

Someone will eventually bite the bullet and try a custom setup...you gotta start somewhere...I'm interested to see how the Mazda3 responds to boost and how the aftermarket reacts...should be interesting...;)

hiboost kind of exploded onto the protege scene with a full kit from outa nowhere.

i would expect the 3 kit and all its details will be released in similar fashion--where it is done, tested and ready for sale.

well around november ill have about $4500 to spend on this thing, do u guys think thats enought for everything. plus ill have to get it tuned.....oh yeah. i had a question. because nobodys hacked into the ecu will it even be possible (even with the hiboost kit) to get it tuned??

There has been progress on the Can-Bus ECU's. SCT is currently flashing the Ford ECU's and have emailed me to look for the Mazda version to be out in Sept.
The only way to tune this ecu is either an ECU flash or a full stand-alone. Piggy backs will not work, the ecu will relearn.
I too have seen limited responses to the HI-Boost kit, and from what others have said the Mazda6i is making boosted is very disappointing and just shows they can not tune this ECU.
Once the SCT flasher comes out there should be a few FI kits coming out, since that is whats holding them back.

I would definately wait for the HiBoost kit to be done, I knwo Juan has been hella busy lately as he has come out with 2 different changes or upgrades in the protege kit as well as an upgrade FMIC kit for the MSP's AND he has his personal fun car he has been puting a shitload of hours on which is a 505whp RSX typeS. He has been in the FI business since about when I could first ride a bike let alone a car and definately knows mazdas.
Plus the ecu and tuning issue will be included as Im sure he will have one of the haltech packaged and pretuned with base maps with the kit like he does with the proteges. and should be around 3500-4k for the kit when it first comes out.
