Hi everyone. My name is Gav (Heckler), I think I signed up a couple of eyars ago using my usual nickname, but can't remember the password or email I was on at the time... changed ISP a couple of times since.

I own/run the UK MX6 Owners Club at www.mx6oc.com and thought I would pop over and give us a mention and stick up for the MX6 community. :)

So here's a few pics of my Black UK spec Mazdaspeed kitted MX6. I also have a silver Jspec KLZE MX6 that is being heavily modified performance wise, and will also have the Mazdaspeed kit as soon as I find the rear spoiler (rocking horse droppings springs to mind).

So here is number one

Custom painted dash (by me)
Reverse glow silver dials and all blue lighting.

I've recently fitted some Mazdaspeed pedals and shifter from a Mazdaspeed Protege (minor modification required to gearstick)

Work planned for the winter includes

Fitting a new set of gauges that have a reverse glow effect like the dials.
New suspension
New Wheels (Linea Retta)
Respray, same colour but might add some silver flake for a little bling.

This car is more about looks than anything else. The jspec is where all the performance mods are going.

Jspec Mods so far
MX3 Flywheel and uprated clutch
Full stainless headers, high flow cat and custom catback system
68mm throttle body

Work being done over the winter.
KLZE heads are being ported and polished
KLZE manifold modified, VRIS removed
FSE boost valve
New rear bumper
Mazdaspeed side skirts and front lip painted and fitted.
Sort out all the dings and scratches, debadge and respray.

That along with a few other custom tweaks will see that KLZE reaching 240-250bhp according to figures based on a 626 he has already modified the same way.

Will post pics of the jspec as I go, don't have any right now as car is in storage.

Gav, whats up!? Long time no see. I finally got those skirts painted and installed on my car. Its good to see your car again...one of those ones you don't forget.

Welcome to this side of the fence!

Hey man... how the hell are ya. :) The black one hasn't changed much, added a few interior tweaks, but she got keyed a few months back and needs the door repainting... but figured I would get the whole car done over the winter as there's more than a few little dings and chips... and want to shave the antenna too.

Show us some pics of yours now... looked good last time I remember it... and it's black like mine if I recall... the best colour. :)

I just bought these of ebay. :)

I have another MX6, jspec with about 215bhp right now, more to come... fitting another Mazdaspeed kit to it. But still need to find another MS spoiler and you know how rare they are. :)

Looking for some decent FD's (like your avatar) as she's going to be racing round the Nurburgring next May... Can't wait to get her finished.

I also need some of those Lancer CE rear bumper skirts, but can't find them (lost my links when my other PC crashed)

As for MX6.COM... I used to be there, but found the UK mods (and their buddies) are a little on the anal retentive, socially inept side and didn't like my polite honesty. The irony is that the UK MX6 owners club is now getting as much, if not more traffic than the UK section of MX6.com... which is quite funny when you think about it... as a lot of the members came from there. :) :)

Here's mine...finally kitted! Just scroll down to find it. Its the only MX6 entered this month.

There are more pics on MX6.com if you search for Mazdaspeed.

Can't believe you found another set of skirts! Thats 3 sets you've had in your possession in the last few years! Crazy man! I know who I'm talking to when I need a set again one day! Hahah.

FD's are nice wheels to, so good choice. I'd sell you mine if shipping wouldn't be outrageous. I'm planning to go to 17x8" Enkei RPF1's if the guy I buy from ever gets back to me with availability!

She's looking really good now, better than mine even. I've neglected mine this summer as I've been mostly working on the Jspec. Plus I was out of work from Nov 06 to July 07 due to health... again.

Got a large pile of parts waiting to be fitted, inc a new rear bumper for the jspec, uprated rear anti roll bars for both cars, gauges for the black one... old ones can go into the jspec.

So much to do, I don't know where to start, and it's turned really, really cold over here now.

The interior on the jspec is a little tatty, need a new drivers seat, so after some black leather.

Trust me you don't... they're horrible... a red/blue rough bobbly type of material. Looks horrible, feels horrible and wear on the bolster easily.

You want the rare hard black leather, not many of them around (guess who's got some though. :) ) with most being the soft easily scuffed and worn leather with piping. The hard leather wears 500 times better, and mine looks almost like new on the rear seats still. A little scuffing on the drivers bolster, easily sorted with some liquid boot polish and some leather cream.

The later years had a much nicer smoother blue/gray cloth interior.

What you should go for is some probe front seats from the 24v, they did a nice black cloth with grey inserts... rears could even fit with some minor modifying I think.

But on your car, black leather all the way. :)

Greetings! (hi)

Nice intro and nice rides! You MX6'ers are a dedicated bunch and I admire that (thumb)

What is the average price these days for a MX6 in good condition in the UK?

Well as the found and owner of the UK MX6 owners club... yes we are. :)

As for price, it depends on the year. A 91 can be picked up for just a few hundred pounds. (2nd gen's were available in the UK from late 91 as they were built alongside the Jspecs in Japan, unlike the Aspecs built in flat rock from 93-97). Most import Jspecs are from 91-94 over here.

A friend just picked up a late model 97, one of the last made... for 1000 UK pounds... about 2000 US dollars. Mint ones with low mileage rarely fetch much more than 1500-1700... Unless you find some one who really wants one.

Sales were slow in the UK, which is why we struggle to find custom stuff... a lot of the little tweaks to mine either came from Japan or the US... or I had made as a one off. We do have the Ford Probe market to lean on though, some ok stuff can be found occasionally as the Probe is based on the MX6 GE platform... so we always end up paying more for parts.

Welcome if I'm a little late lol. I own a first gen myself. I will never sell it lol. Very nice second gen

Hi again guys

Not been around much... had some very bad news at the end of October when I lost my brother... Very sudden and unexpected... He is greatly missed.

So unfortunately everything got put on hold and on 21st dec I got fired from my job after the doc signed me of for a few weeks due to the bereavement... Technically they are skating along the fine line of the laws and I will be seeking advice on legal action.

The jspec project is on hold for the time being. I did actually buy another red MX6 of ebay for 250 (GB pounds) as it had black leather... which now resides in the jspec. Although the drivers bolster needs a repair (don't they always) the red one had failed it's yearly road safety check (MoT) the seller stupidly advertised it very poorly and no one bid... except me. :) After checking the MoT failure sheet and pulling the engine codes, I realised all it needed was new rear drop links and 2 O2 sensors... about 100, 150 inc a new MoT test and she should be good to go, and will be sold on for at least 500+... So I should get free leather interior.

The black one had a few issues... needed 2 new front tyres and then discovered how badly the rims are peeling. So will use the money from the sale of the red one to fund some touch ups and sorting out those linea retta wheels... Gonna drop to a 16" rim and 215 tyres from the 17" 235 ones as the ride is better and I can lower it 35mm without scuffing tyres on wheel arches.

No idea when the jspec project will take off again... I know I have a small inheritance coming... But my brother wasn't a car guy and he'd think it was wasted if I used it on the cars... So gonna do something he'd appreciate with it instead... it's just a car and it will still be there in 6 months.
