hi guys

as the name implies i am from australia and my little 1.6 ltr 02 protege5 as i think it is named (hatch) does not have much of a following here but as i love mazdas and my little car as well i am obsessed with the idea of doing some thing special with it to piss off the wankers that drive v8 and WRX'S that think it would be fun to try and drag me off. but with a stock protege with the exception of my 16" roh adrenalins with 205/45/16 toyos my car is stock just will not compete at the moment im just about completed the sterio ( top of the range sony deck, sony 6" in the frount door, 6"x9" in the parsel shelf, custom install boot with sony 12" sub built in behind the wheel arch and amplifiers flush mounted in the other side so my boot is all sqared up producing 133db) and now i wish to start in the perfomance enhacing mods with this little car haveing little to no following here i have trouble finding parts and infomation. as you can emajine i was over joyed to find this forum and hopefully get some info for my plan there is the usual mods exhaust, intake but i was thinking of hanging a supercharger from the 4agze motor (out of the toyota mr2 spider) off the sidewhich i can pick upfor about $350 au dollars i know i will need to change the computer i am thinking of using the microtech lt-8 but i dont know what else to change i dont want the expense of changing the internals so i think i can run about 7lb boost, is this correct or can i run more with stock internals. i do want to get a lsd but is the stock manual tranny up for the job. is there some thing i have not thought of i know i will have to get a intercooler and get the whole thing plumbed in and dyno tuned but am i missing some thing?

any help will be appresiated

We do have the kit for the 1.6 liter engine now available. The motor seems to love boost and the output is very good. Here is a picture of the engine bay and a link to a 289 WHP video of the engine with a stock motor (no internals)

thank you both for your infomation. at what lb boost is the engine producing that 178.2 whp and is the 283 whp 12.5 @ 112mph is from the 2ltr version, if not what are the mods on that car? that turbo kit will cost me about $4900 au plus shipping and handling. the mod i am talking about is estimated to cost me about $3000 au and this particular supercharger produces 14lb boost with factory spec pulley gearing

We made 178 at 9 psi with the standard tranny. With automatic we are looking around 160. The 12.5 and 112 mph was in our P5 with 2.0 at 20 psi of boost.

With our kit you need to buy anything additional. It comes with a Haltech F10X computer, ball bearing turbo front mounted intercooler and all necessary hardware to bolt it on.

damn very nice numbers. even more interesting is that I own a 1.8l version BP engine :D

too bad I don't have any money to put into it.

Not yet. The run was with stock tranny and stock axles. That is why I was launching smoothly as you can hear in the video.

I do have a MSP tranny and axles ready to be put as well as a ported/polished and larger valves head to try and hit 11s.

wow. how much stress do you feel you've put on the stock P5 tranny, and what year is your P5? (reason I ask is so I can find out if its the "newer" tranny with several stronger parts than the 02 tranny)

and how many hp got you that 12 second time? (whats the highest dyno you've pulled?)

what size injectors?

I made 331 WHP at 20 psi of boost, however I ran 22 psi of boost that day. My P5 is 2002.5.

I run 440 cc injectors, but at 22 psi they are almost at 100 duty cycle.

did you run the same 440 map you sent me? I'm glad you ran 440s and have the older tranny because thats what I have and it gives me hope :D
 
who many lbs can you run safely in stock 1.6l zm motor does it meen that you are running 20lb into a stock fs motor, no forged rods of piston or additional bolts in the big end baering. will hiboost just supply the plumbing (no turbo or haultec) if so how much
 
thank you so much i had no idea it was capble of that i was thinking about 7 to 10 psi max not that much
