whats up people i have some questions hopfully i can get some answers for them. My car is just about stock except for greddy Rs running recirculated and Trz dog bone mount i notice sometimes i get occassional a slight hestation or a hick up when on acelleration around 3400 to 4500 area but dosnt happen all the time i have Mscai and HTP turbo inlet in a box waiting for me to install when i get home unfortunetly i have no way of logging any data because i dont have a AP nor do i have a dashawk car has 11k should i continue with the install or what ? it happens out the blue like 1once every 2 to 3 weeks ? any ideas

If it's cold it could be from that. More serious issues would be fuel pump, oxygen sensor, maf sensor, etc. but I wouldn't bet on that.

Mine does this frequently. I notice it despite the ambient temperature and only at partial acceleration. If I punch it, it doesn't happen. I am bone stock with 39k miles and it has done this since day 1.

I would love to know the culprit. As much as I appreciate the benefits of electronic throttle and ECU interpretation of A/F ratios, I think sometimes it out-smarts itself. With my old MX5 (Eaton MP62, Greddy eManage) I could log and view every millisecond of injector duty cycles and A/F, and then make changes to the map to correct these sorts of "drop-outs". Without a stand-alone engine management system for the MS3, I have just come to accept it -

- Until I mod the h3ll out of it.

Mine has done it since day 1. Mostly when i'm on the freeway in 6th around 3100, if i punch without down shifting it goes for a sec..hicups..then start going again. It'll do it somtimes in 5th too, but it only ever does when I step on it in the 3-4k range.
It feels like its boost or fuel cut the car is doing.

Something like that

That feeling is you car trying to smack some friggin sense into you !! You NEVER floor it in 6th gear unless you are flying at 125+mph. It too much load on the engine. You are lucky it hasnt exploded. Even 5th is pushing it if you dont have enough RPM.

ive got the same issue with all my mods, if i downshift 4th or ride 4th gear and punch it sometimes i get a bad hesitation/sputter and my knock shoots through the roof, and sometimes it pulls like a rapped ape and dosent have the issue, its a hit or miss. Im thinking its the gas im using, gonna swap stations and see if it gets better

true that. your stutter is because your putting so much load on your engine in a high gear at low rpm's. you should never WOT the thing unless your 3k-35k minimum. esp with mods. and if your knock goes through the roof well....im afraid how many times you did this to figure out that your knock went through the roof. lol. again....your lucky your car hasent exploaded yet.

if your getting a stutter at mid range rpms and in a proper gear then more than likely it nothing to worry about. the car runs rich...fuel pops through your exhaust...your car tries to correct the 9.3 a/f ratio the stock map brings...and whatever else may cause a stutter. shouldnt sweat it if this is the case.

lol im on Cobb AP stage 1 93 with MSCAI, and i hit 8.4! yea but i need to get this straight, its dumb how when i race an evo i get pulled on from the get go because hesitation. i ran from a stop sign yesturday and spun thru 1st, hit the clutch to get into 2nd n hear the loudest pop ive ever heard in my life with a cloud of smoke behind me, too many more of those i might blow my cat out.

I have no mods and have experienced a milder version of this before. I found a tank of 94 from Mohawk/Husky cleared it up.

knock under light throttle such as cruise control is normal. 6-7 isnt uncommon. WOT you shouldnt be getting anything above 2. if you get something "through the roof" at WOT dont do any more WOT runs until the problem is resolved. otherwise youll be in a mess you dont want to be in. if something doesnt seem right....assume it probably isnt.

thats the thing man, ive tested it because its not a consistent thing. cruiseing, i downshift 4th, its hesitates/putters, i let off the gas and get back to 0 degrees, stomp it again but this time it pulls no issue or knock. i shift back into 6th, and try it again. This time no knock or putter, just haul ass. it seems as if i get a bad mixture for a second and it wacks out. after my tune ill do some more testing.

well engine knock wise....it is an inconsistant thing sometimes. you can get a reading of 7 and its just because your shifting inbetween gears. false reading. i dont know about the hesitation then. i guess every car cant run perfect all the time. unless its really f-ing up id say its norm....average for this car. some have it some dont. idk.

Check the spark plugs. Get a step colder. If you are running maps or any mods its a MUST, not an option. Heavy load puttering really only happens due to the plugs or fuel related issues/air readings but I'd bet a couple dollars new spark plugs would do the trick... if not a spark plug clean.

hm... installed my stock tune from my AP again, and i have to say, MOST of the knock is gone, haven't done a downshift yet, but ill tell you what, my fricken car feels like a Civic now

this happen to me a total of probably 3 times including tonight. I was in 4th and step on the throttle to beat a yellow and it started to sputter, the first 2 times it sounds like its coming from the engine and tonight, the sounds come mostly from the exhaust.

is it just running too rich? How does boost cut feel on this car?

I have been trying to find the correct map to run and haven't been successful... Running the MSCAI in SRi mode: Cobb SRI map gave me 4th gear KR of 8.0! MSCAI gave me 6.0 last night ripping it onto the highway from a ramp.

Have 1 step colder plugs.

dude thats worse than what ive seen then, ive got a consistent 5 at the most. just go back to stock til you get a tune, thats what im doin. try to save the motor for as long as i can
