Help with lowering...newb here!

Hey guys. I'm thinking about buying parts online then finding a shop to lower my p5. I have a couple questions if you don't mind.

1) I was planning on going with the Eibach ProKit and Tokico Blues. Everything I read says the ProKit lowers it 1.2in in the back and 1.4 in the front. In many threads on this forum people with the ProKit have the exact same drop. Is this written in stone? Is this the only drop the Eibach will give? I know this is kind of a dumb question but remember I'm a newb. I've seen pictures on here on people with this drop and it's about what I want. I don't want a massive drop, but a slightly lowered look to close the wheel gap.

2) If I buy the kit and shock/struts online and take them anywhere to have them installed, is that all I need?? Of course I'll have the allignment done afterwards, but are there other parts needed to drop it? I've found the Tokico Blues online many places, and each is sold separately (front right, front left, rear right, rear left) is this normally how it goes? The cheapest I've found is like $88 for each one, is it better (or possible) to buy all four and save $$$? And also, is this the shock/strut combo or are the Tokico Blues only shocks? If so what are some good struts to go along with this combo?

Thanks again I'm really new to modding so sorry if these questions are newb, but hey we all had to start somewhere eh? Thanks!

dont take the car to a shop to have the install done. youll pay about 300 bucks for the install. im sure you can find someone around you to help install.

as far as the drop, it all depends on the car. some cars will get a bigger drop than others. you have subs or anything like that in the back? that will deff give you more of a drop. but the differences wont be huge. maybe a tenth of an inch at most.

all you need is the springs and struts. you can do it by yourself in a few hours. find the regional forums at the bottom of the page and start a thread in there when you are ready to install.

the blues are deff the best choice for the price. if you can afford the illuminas you could go with those. no need though unless you want the adjustability that they give you. check ebay for the struts. i got my illuminas for 440 shipped on ebay. i bet you could do better than 88 each.

Have you looked at Protegegarage.com?
they have all 4 struts availible, for 379.00 Free shipping.
or if you want the Shock/Spring Tokico Blue combo like me its only 499.95 Shipped.
PM me for pictures.

Sweet thanks guys. So the Tokico Blues are the shocks, correct? So I'd also need to get new struts as well, right?

And YES, I have 2 12" JL 12W6s in the back, I love mah tunes :)

And about the Eibach ProKit, is the 1.4" front and 1.2" rear drop the only drop this kit offers? It seems whenever I see someone with this setup it's the same drop. Thanks!

Shocks and struts aren't technically the same thing but they're often referred to as the same thing. For the purpose of not getting into it too deep, the Tokico Blues are the struts. For our cars, we have a strut/spring combo therefore all you need is the struts and the springs. The Eibach Pro Kit is one of the bigger choices with us P5 guys and the Tokico Blues are great struts that hold on forever. Get yourself the Tokico Blues and the Eibachs and do the install yourself. There are a couple of How-To's with pictures in the How-To section and I also know that there is a video of how to change your struts and springs on autozone's website. Do your research while you wait for them to come and then go to autozone and rent a spring compressor. You put about $50 basically buying the thing but you return it when you're done and they give you all your money back. It's a cool program. Anyway, good luck and let us know if there's anything more you need to know.

You just need the set of 4 struts (Tokico HB) and the Eibach Pro Kit (if thats what you want)... thats what I got. The install is pretty easy. I think you can change up the drop by getting the sedan pro kit instead of the P5 pro kit, I think doing that would make the rears lower.

Hrm, that's interesting.
Would it be an even 1.4 drop, or would the fronts be lower as well?

I to have a question about lowering my car... Would these be acceptable if I wanted to drop my car...

THESE

and how much would it cost me.

Megan springs are good.

The fronts in both kits are actually the same. The P5 rears are either a little bit taller or have higher rates to compensate for the extra hatch weight. Here is the sedan with the sedan pro kit... (mostly to see what the front looks like)

install the lowering kit yourslef and save some money or find a friend that is mech. inclined. i have worked on many cars and installed the full tokico hb kit(springs and struts) in like 5 hours with no manual.....just look at the bolts it's pretty simple...put the whole car up on jack stands and get to it....oh and make sure you have a low profile jack....my old jack doesn't fit under my car anymore
