Mazda 6s
Well guys; those of you who bought your M6 when it first came out will prolly be running into the same problem that I'm currently having.....Headlights burning out. If you look in your manual it refers you to the dealership in order to get them swapped. If you guys are anything like me this solution will just not work. I've ordered some HILITE 7000K lights for the high beams; low beams, and foglights (H1,H1,and H3 respectively) and really don't feel like driving 40 miles to the nearest mazda dealership in order to get them installed. I was hoping that perhaps someone has already tried to swap out the lights on their 6s (V6 model) and could give me a walkthrough on how to get it done. It's much easier with the M6i because the motor doesn't fill up the engine compartment like the V6 does, but if you're trying to change the lights on the 6 cylinder you're a little cramped for space and I don't think you can just pop off the back of the light housing. Any help you guys can offer is greatly appreciated!

im not to sure about the 6 but if its anything like the 3 theres no space in there either, but it looks very easy to take the housings off to get the room you need

it's tough!!

I did buy my 2004 Mazda 6 when it first came out, but have not had any problems with the bulbs burning out. I chose to switch them all to the Piaa extreme whites, and it is hard! We didn't remove the housing or anything, it just takes a lot of time and small hands! All you can really do is feel around for the little clips locking them in, and try to grip them well enough to twist and pull them out. Good luck!!

welcome to the boards heather.. I see you're from the griswold area.. my girlfriend teaches out there.

Thanks for the info heather; you're absolutely right. I was able to switch out the lights and man it was a PITA (pain in the !*$). I did get it done though and it was doable. I was wondering if anyone has tried switching out the little light bulb that is in the area of the high beams. I was thinkging about tracking down a blue LED or some kind of black light to throw in there. The lights that I have are a real bright blue/white color and that little orangeish light is just looking out of place. Thanks again for your help guys!
