- 2001 Protege MP3
I got a Protege MP3 about 4 months ago and I love it, except for a few things.
First, It keeps giving me a CEL with error code P0401, the one about the EGR valve. I've tried cleaning it out with carbon cleaner twice and then resetting the computer (unplugging negative battery connector and holding brake pedal for 15 seconds). The CEL would disappear for a few days and then reappear. Any ideas on what to try next? Is my egr valve screwed up or is it something else? Both times I tried cleaning the EGR valve there didn't appear to be too much carbon build up.
Also, I drive long distances on the highway and there is a bad highway drone above 65mph. What would be the easiest/cheapest way to fix this? Would a resonator work? What about sound insulation in the doors? I just want to get rid of the droning even if it means a small performance hit.
