help w/installing amplifier on my 3

i just got my 3 yesterday and i must say it is the best car in the world to me granted im only 17 years old........but anyway i had an amp and 2 10's in my old truck and i'm not real sure how to hook my amp up to the stock head unit......anyone wanna help me out

You'll need a Line Out Converter. It splices into the speaker wires coming out of the standard deck and converts them to RCAs. You then run those RCA's to your amp, and run speaker wires from the amp to the speakers. Go here for the converter:

yea i am extremely thrilled to be driving such an excellent car........and yes i do pay for some of the payments and insurance and gas and i am hopefully going to college for free........so it wasnt exactly handed to me ........but anyway does anyone know how to take the dash apart to get to the radio

The Navone LOC's are a much better quality than the junk you find at install shops - highly recommended it you want to keep your factory H/U (and who wouldn't!!) - I didn't see any loss in sound quality using the high levels with this LOC

could affect my cars garantee. somthing about the car having alot of electronics.
i asked it it would just affect the garantee on the stereo and he told me that it would
be for all the electronics on the car. could this be true. id hate to pay for a new ECU
just cause i changed my speakers. that sound pretty good in the first place.

The dealer would have to prove that your mod caused the failure. I.E.: If you put in new speakers and you cel came on for a O2 sensor problem they would have to prove that your speakers caused the O2 sensor failure (very unlikely). If you put the same speakers in and you shorted the head unit, if you were looking for the dealer to replace it thay may say that your mod (the speakers) caused the failure. Then the burden lies on you.
This is at least the way I am to understand it. I have a cool dealership here in W. PA. The let me do pretty much what ever I want (so far). This subject has been discussed in previous forums and some investigation is warranted.

I wouldn't even run a system in your 3 unless you have a aftermarket HU. Its gonna sound like s*** when you convert the wires to RCA's. I have not had my system in for two months because I was waiting for my custom fiberglass HU assembly to be finished. I am just the kind of person that wants quality sound if I am going to invest all kinds of money into a system. Just my opinion onthe situation. Good Luck

Good point, the stock system in my opinion isnt bad at all, i mean i had a 97 Jeep w/ crappy stock speaksers so really ANYTHING sounds better than what it sounded like before, even though i bought speakers to replace the jeep stock speakers but still, im just saying.

I don't think Jeem isn't under GM. Last I knew it was part of the Chysler group. Guess that's merged with Mercedes now too but I think Jeep is still under them.

Oops, the double negative was just a typo. I meant to say I don't think Jeep is a part of GM. I don't know but my bet is no matter what conglomerate your vehicle is under now there's probably a good deal of variation with the quality of stock systems depending on what you buy. I'll go out on a limb and say a Mercedes S class comes with a nicer sounding radio than a neon even though there all part of the same corp. If I'm wrong I'd have to laugh.
