2003 mazda speed protege
My 2003 mazda speed protege is pulling a p0660 code. Left the lights on and the battery drained, so i recharged it. But ever since the car will barely turn over, and when it does it dies suddenly. I know the battery and alternator are good and i cant figure out how the hell to fix this car! Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Has brand new coil packs, spark plugs ect

I charged it and the battery charger said it was good. Seems to be holding a charge and has no issue turning the car over? How would i know if theres a faulty cell? Thanks Hornsfan1069

Well it might not have enough amps, voltage might be fine but you need sufficient amps as well.

How old is the battery?

If you have a multimeter, set it to voltage and hook it up to your battery and while you turn the key, check what the voltage reads, if it reads less than 10 volts or so, your battery is no good.

Hmm not to sure how old the battery is. I bought the car two months ago, but the charger i have is suppose to read and tell if its faulty. Will try a multimeter, thanks for your help!

Ive read that it could be a solenoid issue too when it pulls that code p0660? Any experiences with faulty solenoids?

Yes will your charger doesn't test the battery when it is under a load, best to have the battery load test or if you think the battery is over 3 years old, it might be best to replace with a new battery.

I believe Autozone will load test a battery for free, if you can get the battery to them.

Makes sense. Will try right after work. Fingers crossed! Thank u

What plugs did you install and are they gapped to .028-.030"? P0660 is the VICS solenoid, the one on top of the intake manifold with the white plug. They always fail over time.

Have ordered the vics solenoid from mazda. Just waiting for it to show up. Will, post results. Thanks again!
