HELP! Oil change fiasco

I've got a huge problem!

I decided to change my oil in my mazda3. I figured that it would be fun, since I've done it many times on my previous car. I drained the trasmission fluid instead of the engine oil!!!! I put in the new oil, but it was high so I started the engine and put in reverse, the car barely would move. What shoud I do now! How do I add the trasmission fluid back in? Should I have it towed to the closes lube place and have the fix the whole thing???

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Automatic transmission fluid is generally filled through the same tube where it's checked. Follow the instructions in your owner's manual regarding the level and type of fluid to use.

I see the fill level dip stick, but the opening obviously seems too small to fill with oil. I hope I didn't ruin the trans by putting it in reverse with barely any oil in it.

first change your oil again b/c you have way to much in there and this time use the right plug.. lol

now is it a manual or auto?

It's an automatic trans. I just can't believe I did this! I've change oil milion times in my old car. Yes, I realize there is way too much oil in the engine... that's a easy fix, as long as I use the right drain plug.

Do you think the trans ok? What about warranty? will the dealer void it?

DONT TELL THE DEALER!!
IF its messed up, i would put fluid in there and take it to the dealer and play stupid....seriously. Everyone out there might not agree with me but ive had nothing but bad experiances with the dealer around here.

Thanks,

put new engine oil in and nearly overflowed it?

easy, remove drain plug replace filter, and refill correctly

tranny? put plug back in, add oil through the tube to proper level
no need to have it towed

oh yeah, and don't try to move the car AT ALL - this will **** up your trans in a heartbeat
get a ride to get filter/oils

for example, i remember seeing a monster garage ep where they were in iraq - and some idiot pvt. forgot to put oil in the trans before installing and no one ever checked
**** it UP completley

You mean the tube that I check the level with right? Can I put back the oil I drained accidently?

i would put back the oil you drained if its still clean (not full of dirty oily rags and random yard debris)

It's clean, I put it in the oil bottles from the engine oil I poured in. I just hope the trans ok, I did put the car in reverse to move it of the ramps. I know I won't sleep tonight.

So, I'll just funnel the old fluid back into the trans and I should be all set with the trans?

What do you guys thing? will the trany be ok?

Your tranny should be okay as long as you didn't take the car back out on the road. Fill it with some new fluid and see how everthing is. If not, warranty is your best friend if you're still stock.

Put in new fluid through the transmission dipstick tube. Use the type recommended by the manual, or on the dipstick itself. Use a flexible funnel if you have to. Do Not Overfill!!!

Drain oil from the proper drain plug. Refill with proper amount and type of oil.

Never ever touch anything under your car again!!!

thats opening is where u put the tranny fluid in at. you can get a funnel at any parts store that should fit in there

I'm also concerned that you keep referring to transmission fluid as oil. It is not oil ~ it's transmission fluid!! Know the difference.

This is just what gets written about. Just imagine the silent sufferers. (shocked)

might just be me -- but the word *oil* seemed to be used for both the engine and tranny. please dont put oil in the tranny -- hehehehe
