Help needed with my HKS SSQVII MS Specific.

Hi guys I just purchased the mazdaspeed specific version, the one that is all cast and just bolts straight up, but it wont !!

I tried to install it today and my mechanical skills are only basic, but the recirculating snout on the HKS once installed runs straight or parallel, whilst the Bypass return hose bends upwards like a 45-90 degree angle and they won't meet.

Anyone know the easiest way to install this?

To my mind the Bypass hose needs to be spun around, replaced or cut.
The angle of the hose won't join the Re-circ fitting on the HKS.

I also have a Injen CAI installed and this seems to restrict the angle of which the hose can be made to bend.

Some advice please, also can this thing be run VTA without any dramas as the kit came with a blocking cap.

It seems to install easy in VTA mode, just a PITA to recirculate without some kind of modification to the hose which I am a little reluctant to do.

Yes, the instructions should have mentinoed that you need to cut the recirc hose approx. 3/4's of an inch or 1" off the end of the tube. Also, yes the tube need to be spun around in order for that angle to be just right. Hope this helps...

I wouldn't recommend running VTA, I mean well I am a lot more mods and that just made pop to much. Also noticed that the car runns a little ruff considering I have upgraded my rear motor mount. Seems like the car is starving for more air if you know what I mean.

Thanks for that info Knowledge007, are you happy with it overall over the stock piece.
I don't want to go cutting the hose if I'm going to want to rip it off in a few weeks time as such, this is my second Bov, previously I had a TurboXS in recirc and I didn't like it, it only stayed on for about 2-3 weeks.

you dont have to cut the hose, just rotate the hose 180 and face it the other direction, it will squeze past the ms cai and the stock air box

Yes you can clamp some springs into the recirc hose to make it so it does not crimp or bend too much i did it with mine and it has worked perfectly so far

Do I have to recirculate?

Do i really need to recirculate the HKS SSQ will it hurt my car if i dont? can i VTA?

Running VTA in this car without it tuned can cause long term damage to many things. YOu can VTA, but I wouldn't suggest it for to long. As I previously stated, just seem like the car is struggling after about a month or so VTAing.

well that sucks i've been running mine vta for a while. the stock recirculating hose doesnt seem to wanna fit right where can i aquire a different one?

Yeah I bought the hose from $treet Unit and it is a straight generic 1-1/8" hose that fits like poo. I had to cut and hack it to get it to match slightly. The stock hose fits better. Turn it or the bov around a bit to make it fit.
