Skyactiv chassis is designed differently, no turbo bits, which are quite heavy.

The Skyactiv hatch is lighter than the 2.5 hatches by about 152lbs also. This comes from revisions in the motor, transmission, and body. I expect the next gen 3's to get closer to 2500lbs.

Yup, turbo parts are heavy.

Touring is a good trim level. At least you get auto climate control with that. I liked that feature in my 5, set and forget.

The Bose system is probably a bit better especially with the high end, but it's still overpriced. I like the Boston Acoustics systems Chryco had in some of their upper trim level cars, but honestly I like the stock system for now, it is bass heavy but it's pretty clean otherwise.

The 2012 3 is not a Skyactiv platform, it just has the engine sans 4-2-1 manifold, the transmission, and a more aerodynamic body compared to the 2010-2011, with a coefficient of drag down to 0.27 from 0.29. The redesigned 3 will be on a full Skyactiv platform.

yeah, they couldnt fit the 4-2-1 header in the 3, thus the lower compression compaired to the cx5... but still the same hp. just a little less trq.

the chassis isnt skyactiv, but the engine and trans are both made to be lighter. and i believe the hatch went from .32 to .29 for drag. the sedan is better at .27.

Tis not what they said on original press material. The whole chassis is not skyactiv, but there are lightened portions of it.

If i just read your initial post and see how you're trying to figure this out, it's defintley red! You answered your own question if you ask me!!

yup. made the order. perhaps i should call the dealership and see if they have a delivery date. already have ideas as for other things im going to buy for it.

first tint, and probably weatherteck floor mats, since it will be winter when i get her.

Went in to get an oil change on my 6... came home with this.

She arrived a few days ago... and i figured it would be best to have her home! So, now i have 3 cars for a while. Will drive the crap out of the leased 6 till feb.

Nice, congrats!

I was at first trying to find a VMR, but the dealership did not have any that was the GT model. They had two GT models in the dark silver and the dolphin gray. I actually like the Dolphin Gray a lot in person (kinda reminded me of the lakeshore slate color for the G35's).

thank you. i will be setting up a thread for it eventually... but for now, this one will suffice.

it took almost exaclty 3 months from ordering for it to get here. now it is just sitting waiting for the lease on my 6 to be up. i took it to work one day (before it got cold and snowy). i did pretty well for not driving a stick for like 10 years. the best part... it was the worst morning rush hour traffic i have experienced here. probably because i was about 5 minutes later than normal, because i was setting up the bluetooth. lets just say, 10 year rusty manual driving in big chunky boots in stop and go traffic for 15 miles was not fun. but, i did totally fine, just gave a little more room.

it is a very easy car to drive stick with. you can pretty much just slowly let off the clutch and not even give it gas and it will go just fine. not at all like the vw jetta sportwagen tdi i tried. i killed that thing 3 times before i realized you could not let it get below 1000 rpms when taking off.
