Help Me Decide: CX-5 vs. CR-V

Agreed, and as I have stated several times before, the CX-5 does have a nice exterior and even better interior than the CX-5, but for me that's about it in terms it being better. The CRV trumps it in pretty much everything else, and when I'm spending 30k+ on something I want it to do more than just 'look good'.

"Trumps it"

Yet you keep pointing at the motor trend review which says "It’s a narrow margin of victory".

Pick a story and stick with it.

The CVT is a killer for me in the CRV. If this CX-5 doesn't treat us well, I have no idea what will come next because all the others in the class have been eliminated also. 4 door car I suppose, because definitely see no use for anything bigger...

I'm comparing not just the Motor Trend article but also AutoTrader, Car And Driver, and AutoGuide who have compared both vehicles and picked the CRV:

http://www.motortrend.com/cars/honda/cr-v/2017/2017-honda-cr-v-vs-2017-mazda-cx-5-comparison-review/
http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/...de-com-utility-vehicle-of-the-year-award.html

http://www.caranddriver.com/features/best-compact-suv-honda-cr-v-2017-10best-trucks-and-suvs

So yes, it does TRUMP it. I'm still waiting for one of these publications to pick the CX-5 *hears crickets*

Why do you give a s***? You bought your Honda. This is a Mazda forum.

You can't sleep at night unless you s*** on Mazda?

Show me on the doll where Mazda hurt you in the past.

Edit: Narrow victory is narrow victory. 4 narrow victory reviews don't add up to "Trumps it".

Don't be surprised to see Mazda start using CVTs. Most of these companies use CVTs nowadays for fuel efficiency, and since Mazda has no hybrid/electric or small Turbo charged engines to increase MPG, it might be their only option. They're offering the diesel of course but it will be a huge flop IMO.

Of course that would be your opinion.

If Mazda is so s***, why do you keep playing with it? There's a perfectly good Honda forum of your ilk. Actually they are not your ilk because they have the god damn common courtesy to not go to other car forums and s*** on them.

Tune? Pretty sure the average CRV buyer would not care to tune it. If you were a Honda salesmen you'd be a pretty crappy one LOL. You tell em' about the cupholders, CVT, and they should get one because every one else does. I mean that's why you're here right? To tell folks the CRV should be the only purchase they should ever make. no matter what.

Mango on Who Wants to Be A Millionaire:

What is the largest mammal in the world?

A. Blue Whale
B. Brown Bear
C. CRV
D. Horse

Ummm I know this. The answer is C. CRV. Final answer.

The correct answer is A:)

Tom Volk in his Driven says 17 CX5 does 60 under 8. What gives? I think mine does what 2013s do - atleast I think there is no significant difference. He bought his bro in law - who had a prev. gen. He loved quite a lot of the aspects.
When the question was popped - If you had to buy a car now would you still give CX-5 a chance - he said yes.

Tom suggested Mazda might add a signature edition - pano roof, real wood, possibly 2.5T in future : A porsche Macan for the masses.
That would be cool but probably hit late 30s in MSRP. I think if MAzda can pull that Signature Trim for 38K - would be a solid Bang! 250 hp/torque and good looks.
Though I hope we get a good hybrid version as well.

Do you have a link to this article or clip please (scratch)

I hope this counteracts that Honda image. The Honda is handsome, but this car is sexy. My $.02
But don't listen to me, I'm biased. I smile every time I look at it.

Troll- how many times you gonna post this bs?

http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/...de-com-utility-vehicle-of-the-year-award.html --CX5 not even there dbag
http://www.autotrader.ca/expert/20170515/comparison-test-2017-compact-suvs-part-2-40-000/ --ok lost mainly on smaller cargo area (it is pretty huge diff- Mazda did fail imo via making it smaller than before)

Let C&D compare these and see where they shake out
Let Mazda add diesel variant and see MT pick the CR-V over it for SUVOTY
Then you can say your car is better than everyone's even though you're really just a sad Honda troll on a Mazda forum.

Sorry, but I don't think MT criticisms had anything to do with the lack of a Diesel engine in the Mazda and I highly doubt adding one would change their minds. Not once is the word 'Diesel' engine in the entire article. They looked at entire package/picture to make their decision as one can tell by reading the article.

I've driven CVT and DSG transmissions and I have to say the 6 speed in Mazdas (be it 3/6/CX-5) seems to be really one of the better if not best auto transmissions out there.

CVT - too much droning and holding on to gears longer than really needed
DSG - very hesitant at low speeds - no response at all for 1-2 seconds after accelerator pressed.

My fiance has the same transmission in her Mazda 3. It's been great so far.

You're a huge flop IMO and how much you wanna bet on a Mazda CVT not happening?

Yeah and someone as MT savvy as you should know that particular comment was not referencing this article, its referencing SUVOTY which is done every year in the fall turbo

You mean I can filter out Mango?
I'll have to scroll through the settings page and check it out. Thanks.

You can filter out whoever you want to..

It will show up as just a blue square and you can then choose to look a the post if you want but you don't have to. Someone else pointed me to this when I was about to give up and it has helped. Only downside is it doesn't stop the post showing up in a quote, but it is more bearable.

Click "settings" at the top by your name, then on the left click "edit ignore list" under "my account" and add users to filter as you see fit.

Cheers
