hey fellow msp'ers,

my roommate just installed a rd6066 injen intake for his msp, now it will randomly stall out while driving... i've noticed while driving it that if u shift to neutral the rpms will dip very low to the 200-500 rpm range and, thus sometimes, will stall out.

we've checked all clamps, and resetted the ecu... what else should we be checking?

tia.

your comments are greatly appreciated.

Hmmm, I'd say checks all the clamps and couplers on the intake after the MAF again. Pay special attention to the intake side clamp of the Intake/Turbo coupler. The first time I installed my Injen, I had a leak there that caused similar symptoms. The O.D. of the Injen is a little smaller than the O.D. of the tubo inlet. Basically the tightening the clamp caused the coupler to bunch up a little, which allowed the turbo to suck in a small amount of unmetered air.

You can use an OBDII scanner and search for pending codes. Pending codes are codes that have been stored but have not yet tripped a CEL. If you have this sort of leak, you will probably have the code "p0171" (Bank 1 Lean) pending.

are you using stock pipes? if so, the plastic nipple on the turbo->intercooler hose may be torn. the nipple is glued on and depending on how you fit your intake, the angle may cause some pressure on it and will detach itself from the hose. This happened to me. i just used some super epoxy to stick it back on. if there is an opening there, it will cause a vacuum leak and you will stall if you are driving and shift to neutral.
