Help! I'm confused!

I was just driving home from work tonight, and the car ran completely fine. But as soon as I pull up to my apartment complex, for no apparent reason.. it stalls. The power steering was gone, and the gas and brakes were barley working. My CEL and oil light came on, and I was lucky to get it in a space. I swore for a while, then opened my hood. Nothing different. Spied around with a flashlight, nothing apparent. I ran back into my apartment to change and put on some warmer clothes (30 degrees, not to mention wind-chill) and came back out to see of the car would start. To my surprise, it did. Not wanting to have to push it anywhere if it happened again, I put it in reverse and backed up. All good. Put on the breaks. Fine. Put it back in gear and into the space, good.

WTF!?

I completely expected the car not to start, or at least not work right. I don't wanna drive it anywhere because the likelihood of it happening again is probably high, and next time I might not be so lucky. What the hell could this be, and how can I fix it? Not to mention the fact that tomorrow is Sunday and the dealer is closed.

Some insight would be REALLY appreciated, I'm really relying on you guys, because my brother (mechanic) won't answer his damn phone. What could be wrong, and what can I fix? I do work on cars, but I'm rubbish with electronics. I have some tools here at my place, a jack and jack stands. Just letting you know whats at my disposal.

And the car is practically stock, so no prior mods could be affecting it.

HELP! I'm confused! (confused)

It stalled...Who knows from what..but mine did it a few times for no reason as well.
You lost steering and brakes because it stalled..The same reason all the light came on...Its just like when you turn the key on and dont start it..the light all come on until you start it.

I wouldn't worry about it too much unless it really becomes a regular issue.

So am I really just worried about nothing? It makes sense to me at least to not drive it until it until the problems been diagnosed. Does anyone here in the forums know what could have caused it to stall? Even if everything is totally fine, It will still bother me not knowing.

You may never know....Mine did it three of four time one month for no reason and never did it again.
Always ran perfect.
The EGR is one of the ony things I can point you toward..sometimes they get dirty and can cause idling and stalling issues.

Well I guess tomorrow I'll get my buddies OBD II and scan it. No check engine light, but I do know the EMS still records those kinds of things. Thanks for the help though. We are having the same problem, because now that I think about it, my foot was in the clutch slowing down as it happened.

mine did that afew times when I first bought it. I was really concerned as it was new. I took it to the dealer and they flashed it and it never did it again
