me and the wife had always wanted a dirt bike....i've never ever driven anything past a bicycle....in other words, i will learn about bikes with this one.

anyone have any suggestions as to what to get?
i was looking at pepboys and they have a NIKOTA 125cc 5 speed,
torque: 6@7500 RPM
9.0:1 compression ratio
starting: electric and kick

i know yamaha makes about the best dirt bikes around...this one is selling brand new for 1000 bucks...i would rather use those 1000 to put into maybe a used yamaha or something...

any suggestions? maybe a link where i can look at some?

miami area!
thnx

I bought my 4yr old a 50cc from Pep-Boy, I, we have ridden the crap out of it for about a year, not one problem to speak of.

But I will say $1000 used Yamaha will be an old beater, I been in the industry for years, and have worked for Yamaha, and Suzuki both, you'll need about 2500-3K for a good used Yamaha, don't forget about Honda's they are strong too.

But hey, for a grand, even if it lasts a year, with no problems, that's pretty good. good luck!

i was thinking about the same..and since it is to learn anyways, it really doens't matter...is more to fulfill a dream than to make it a hobbie, you know....if i like it i'll buy me a yamaha or something

yeah, i don't want something too big u know, not a chopper lover....just want the 125cc for fun...so maybe the yamaha or kawasaki....gotta shop around..you just never know, people try to get rid of them all the time...maybe i'll trade it for my mtx 626'98 :P

i bought a 98 honda cr125 this last summer and i love it. its a 2 stroke and its got lots ot pawer all the way through the powerband. i guess it kinda depends on what you want and how the bike can meet thoes things, as far as a 2 or 4 stroke. 2's are less expensive bit require more maintance and upkeep but asre cheeper and easier to fix. 4's are more expensive and requre less upkeep but when broken down are more expensive and harder to repair. i choose a 2 because they have great power responce, a lighter bike and i dont mind getting a my hands a little greasy and tinkering around with the thing.
