Ok I came out from work yesterday and turned the car on and noticed this black spot on the right side of the screen. Thinking it might go away I drove home and it didn't go away. I plug it in my computer to see if an update would fix it but when plugged in the black spot doesn't show, only when plugged in the car. I reinstalled the v251 update and plugged it back into the car and it still shows up. Any ideas and should I contact MSD about this? It was a hot day, maybe the sun or heat got to it?

Mine does the same thing and at the same spot as yours. But once it's turn on for a while it clears a bit(click my sig). Others reported this as well but as far as I know there is no fix yet or if there will ever be. Go to options and brighten up the display to hide the black spot a bit.

It's called LCD hotspot. Happens when the unit gets too hot. If you are still under warranty you can send it in for a replacement. Otherwise, you are SOL.

I concur, it's caused by the heat, you should try and keep it out of the sun as much as possible.

10-4 thanks guys. I guess I'll keep a washcloth in the car and cover it up when it's parked.

Same thing happened to me. Its definitely because of the heat. I keep a rag in my car now to cover it while in use; and take it out of the car when I'm not driving it.

This morning my dashhawk was super dim. Like the contrast was all washed out. I went to the settings and nothing was changed or reset. I changed it by a point and everything was back to normal, even when I went back to the original setting.

But back on topic, mine came with a slight imperfection like that.

Mine does this as well... happens mostly on hot days. Sometimes I need to go back and forth a couple of times before the setting saves properly.

Try updating the dashhawk. Mine was doing the same thing. Updated the dashhawk software and it hasn't happened since.

It's actually from the heat. I now cover it with a wash cloth while I'm not in the car. This helps a lot. It still shows but not as dark and once it has been on for a few seconds the spot goes away and it back to normal.
