help,cant get any fire

i have a 93 protege 1.8 sohc. when i got the car ik was told the distributor was bad. so i took it out and visually checked it out and found some cracks in the black thing under the rotor. i replace the distributor and still no fire. whats up with it does anyone know or what can i check next?

Have you checked the coil to see if you have spark?

Spark plugs couls be fouled from all the cranking.....if you're getting fuel?

a) they dont have coils
b) are you getting fuel?
c) are you getting spark?
d) check the wires and plugs

Bad installation of the distributor sounds like a good possibility if, indeed, that was the original problem. The fuel pump is often another reason after fixing the first problem. That's because often the non-running car one buys has been sitting in a yard for a couple of years. Fuel pumps go bad sitting inside the same old gas.
